Games were razor-close on the farm Thursday. Five of the six affiliates played in one-run contests, with the Dash and ACL Sox emerging victorious. The DSL Sox were the outlier, winning by three.

Across the tight games, Braden Montgomery slugged a walk-off homer in Winston-Salem, Eduardo Herrera went 4-for-4 with a pair of longballs in the DSL, and Noah Schultz struck out seven for the Barons.

All this and more in today’s minor league recap!

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (32-34)

For the second straight night, the Knights were held to just a single run. Unlike last night, that single run was almost enough tonight. Charlotte entered the bottom of the ninth clinging to a 1-0 lead before losing via a walk-off double.

The Knights’ run came courtesy of a Brooks Baldwin homer — his seventh in 19 AAA games this season. Mike Clevinger kept the Durham Bulls at bay with six shutout innings. Clevinger has now spun 14 innings since allowing his last earned run.

Brooks Baldwin (2B): 1-for-3, HR, R, RBI, BB, SB

Colson Montgomery (SS): 0-for-3, BB

Andrew Vaughn (DH): 0-for-3, BB

Korey Lee (C): 1-for-3, BB

Dominic Fletcher (CF): 1-for-4

Zach DeLoach (RF): 0-for-3, BB

Caleb Freeman (RP): 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K

FINAL: Knights 1, Durham Bulls 2 | Box Score

Double-A Birmingham Barons (32-27)

The Barons and Montgomery Biscuits were locked in a scoreless tie through nine innings. Noah Schultz struck out seven while allowing one hit over 5.2 innings, but the Barons’ bats were baffled by Biscuits starter Duncan Davitt, who fired 8 shutout innings.

Birmingham pushed across their free runner in the tenth, but failed to do so in either of the next two frames. Montgomery earned the walk-off win in the 12th on an RBI single.

Zach Franklin, who pitched the tenth and eleventh for the Barons, struck out seven over his two frames.

FINAL/12: Barons 1, Montgomery Biscuits 2 | Box Score

High-A Winston-Salem Dash (23-37)

A pitchers’ duel appeared to be brewing between Tanner McDougal and Bowling Green Hot Rods starter Gary Gill Hill in Winston-Salem. Through five innings, the Dash trailed 2-1 before plating five in the sixth. The Hot Rods responded with a five-run seventh to re-take the lead.

Terrell Tatum slugged his first home run of the season to tie the game in the eight, then Braden Montgomery launched a walk-off longball the next inning.
