I didn’t realize that when we bought our house that we were moving into the Chainsaw District of town. This part of town is all about their chainsaws and lawn mowers and leaf blowers and weed eaters. And prime time for all of that is Saturday morning from 730-930am. It’s like the leaf blowers are the call to worship and they must sacrifice a tree to the chainsaw spirits. This goes into overdrive in late December and early January when the Festival of the Fallen Wood seems to take place. Then I will probably hear more chainsaws in a week than I had heard my entire previous 40 years before moving here. I wish I was joking. This is my reality within 1500 feet of my house. It’s a nice neighborhood otherwise. But there’s no chill or sleeping on Saturdays, which works out terrible when you take a kid to school during the week and attend church on Sunday.
So while I am serenaded by the early morning racket and am drinking some coffee and revisiting my soundproofing options before making breakfast for the family, tell me who is your Braves sleeper pick? Drake Baldwin had a great 2025, but I wouldn’t describe him as one that anyone slept on. I guess last year it was Hurston Waldrep or Joey Wentz.
Mauricio Dubon is a good 2026 pick that the projections seem to hate. Michael Harris could have a big year, if you would consider him a sleeper. Nacho Alvarez and Vidal Brujan are right there too. Joel Payamps could have a great year because you never know with relievers. Just don’t pick me, there ain’t no sleeping over here.
