Get ready, because the Nike Giannis Freak 8 signature shoe is almost here. Giannis Antetokounmpo has officially debuted the shoes on-feet during a practice session, providing a clear-cut first look at the eight model of the series.
Since the debut of the signature shoe line in 2019, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Nike Freak series has remained steadfast as one of the more approachable signature shoes in the market. Given the Greek Freak’s hyper-aggressive style of play, the Freak line is engineered for hoopers that prioritize strong traction and lightweight responsiveness for those Euro-step attacks. Additionally, Nike has chosen to keep the price-point at $115 for the standard model, making the Freak 7 one of the more budget-friendly signatures available.
While full details of the shoe’s performance specs have not been revealed, we imagine it won’t differ much from the current Cushlon 3.0 foam set-up. The current Giannis Freak 7 model does not feature Zoom Air, so it’s possible that the 8 won’t feature it either.
On a design standpoint, Nike chose to go mega-thick with the midsole with deep ridges that reveal a cradle-like support with a traction patterns suitable for the seven-foot-tall beast. A semi-low-cut stance remains, while the Swoosh logo is easily the most subdued we’ve ever seen on a Giannis signature shoe. Thus far, this pink/black/gold pair is the only known pair, so stay tuned for updates as we near an official launch later this Summer.
