Could the Boston Celtics make a blockbuster move for Cooper Flagg?
Cooper Flagg is undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects to enter the NBA in quite some time. The Duke standout looks like a complete player, all at the age of 18.
The Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Draft Lottery this past week, despite having less than 2% chance to land the first overall pick.
All controversy aside, this is a brilliant turn in fortune for the Mavericks, whose future looked to be in jeopardy after they traded Luka Doncic away.
But what if Nico Harrison lives up to the worst fears of Mavericks fans and trades the first overall pick away? Well, one meeting at the NBA Draft Combine suggests it’s not impossible.

Could Boston Celtics land Cooper Flagg?
NBA insider Kevin O’Connor revealed that Cooper Flagg was one of the players the Boston Celtics interviewed at the NBA Draft Combine.
The NBA only allows teams to interview 13 players, so their making Flagg one of them was interesting. It means the Celtics see a realistic way to get to the first overall pick.
“I had multiple sources also tell me the Celtics interviewed Cooper Flagg. Now, this does not mean they’re not going to trade up into the top 10.”
“It’s interesting, at least, the way it works at the draft combine, teams can interview up to 13 players… This would mean they had Cooper Flagg… ranked high to get the opportunity to interview them…”
“If they were to really retool this offseason… I think it’s interesting that the Celtics have made it a point to interview [Flagg].”

Nico Harrison might look to move Flagg
O’Connor continued, speculating whether the Celtics could convince Nico Harrison to give up Flagg for a package involving Jaylen Brown and several picks.
“Boston Calls Nico. They offer Jaylen Brown, and how many first-round picks is it going to take, Nico? I wonder if Dallas and their entire decision-making unit would listen.
Trading away Cooper Flagg, the pick that could serve as a lifeline for Nico Harrison in his role as Mavericks GM, would certainly be bold.
But one of his justifications for jeopardizing the Mavericks’ long-term future by trading Luka Doncic was that he wouldn’t be the GM to have to deal with that future. So Harrison could definitely end up doing this.
