Our front page has been verifiably flooded in the past month with Nike Book 2 player exclusives. Though the Suns’ superstar established himself as the king of the one-of-one during the reign of his first signature shoe, it took a bit of time for the follow-up to follow suit. In the time since, Book has capitalized on the March Madness spotlight with a spree of collegiate looks, both for his own alma mater and for rival institutions.
As the NBA regular season winds down and the Suns jockey for playoff positioning, Devin Booker bucked that recent trend by heading even further back in his hoops journey. Against the Nuggets, Devin pulled out a Nike Book 2 “Gus Macker” PE, harkening to a nationwide 3-on-3 tournament series that helped hone the then-neophyte’s skillset. For some era-accurate images, the shot of Book in our lead image shows “The Next Generation” squad he represented, replete with handcrafted jerseys for him and his teammates.
In footwear form, the Book 2 nods to the tourney by looking to its top-hatted mascot. MackerMan appears true to life stamped on the heel counter, but also lends his color palette to this pair; a bright yellow foundation meets navy trim in the spaces between, including on a metallic side Swoosh, before a hit of red enters the mix with a mini Swoosh at the toe.
As with any game-worn Devin Booker fare, the Nike Book 2 “Gus Macker” PE will likely remain siloed within the shooting guard’s collection. Catch shots of the shoe in action via the gallery below.
