Ja Morant’s future with the Memphis Grizzlies has been “must-monitor” for teams around the league going back to last June, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
There were “rumbles” then that the Grizzlies would not offer Morant a contract extension when he became eligible for one, and that the team would no longer build around the point guard.
Morant still has two years remaining on his contract after this season.
The Grizzlies extended Jaren Jackson Jr. in June.
Morant was suspended one game by the Grizzlies for conduct detrimental to the team. Rival teams are reportedly “monitoring” the situation.
Morant is expected to rejoin the team on Monday.
