The UConn men’s basketball program will reportedly host Princeton transfer target Caden Pierce on Tuesday, according to On3Sports.
Pierce, a 6-foot-7 forward who took this season off to focus on his economics degree at Princeton, was the 2023-24 Ivy League Player of the Year after averaging 16.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game for the Tigers. He is looking to find a new home for the 2026-27 season and play for a contender in his final year of eligibility.
The younger brother of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce and son of two former Division I athletes at Northwestern, he has already taken visits to Purdue and Duke, which seem to be the leaders in the clubhouse. But he is also expected to make visits to Gonzaga and Louisville, according to the On3 report.
UConn is set to begin Big East play on Tuesday with a game against Butler at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford. It isn’t clear whether Pierce will be in attendance.
Pierce was a big part of Princeton’s run to the Sweet 16 as a freshman in 2022-23, when he averaged 8.2 points and 7.3 rebounds on the season. His sophomore campaign was the best of his career before the numbers dropped a bit last year, when he averaged 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
UConn is set to bring in two high school recruits for the 2026-27 season in four-star 6-foot-6 wing Colben Landrew, and four-star 6-foot-4 guard Junior County. Both are consensus top-40 gets.
