42 Year Old George Foreman Shocked The World By KO’ing Undefeated Champion After Losing Every Round

George Foreman is the only man to win the heavyweight championship on two occasions nearly two decades apart.

In his first reign, the late, great Foreman was an intimidating force of nature. In his second, he was the ultimate underdog – a middle-aged man in a sport dominated by youth. But in 1994, he achieved the unthinkable.

At 45 years old, Foreman challenged undefeated WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Michael Moorer.

Moorer – the world’s first southpaw heavyweight champion – was 26, fast, aggressive, and had just beaten Evander Holyfield. Foreman, heavier and slower, was widely dismissed by critics. Some believed the fight was a mismatch.

And for most of the night, it was. Moorer controlled the early rounds, landing combinations and moving around the ring. Foreman plodded forward, taking punches but remaining composed. His corner urged him to throw more, but Foreman waited.

Then, in Round 10, the moment came. Foreman backed Moorer into the ropes and landed a textbook one-two. Moorer dropped instantly and couldn’t recover. With that punch, Foreman became the oldest heavyweight champion in history and silenced every doubter.

The win was not just a triumph of power and patience – it was a legendary comeback story. George had lost 17 years earlier to Muhammad Ali and had spent years as a preacher before returning to the ring. On that night in Las Vegas, he completed the circle. On the defining moment, he said:

“Nobody had any idea I was setting it up all night. I dreamed that I knocked out Michael Moorer before the fight.”
