Floyd Mayweather Names The Greatest Heavyweight Of All Time

Floyd Mayweather Jr has revealed who he thinks is the greatest heavyweight to have ever laced up the gloves.

‘Money’ Mayweather had an exceptional professional career where he won world titles across five weight divisions ranging from super featherweight to light middleweight.

He defeated a number of generational greats throughout his tenure, including Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao, facing the latter in ‘The Fight Of The Century’ back in May 2015.

He remained unbeaten in all 50 of his career outings, with his 50th and final victory coming against MMA superstar Conor McGregor in August 2017. ‘Money’ has had a number of exhibition contests since then however, facing fighters such as Logan Paul, Aaron Chalmers and unbeaten Japanese star Tenshin Nasukawa.

In a shock revelation made to Fat Joe, the 48-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan has named who he believes is undoubtedly the greatest heavyweight of all time.

“I gotta be honest, I gotta go Larry Holmes. Larry Holmes beat everybody in his era. He had the basic fundamentals, he had the jab.”

Perhaps best known as ‘The Easton Assassin’, Holmes reigned as the world heavyweight champion between 1978 and 1985, making 20 successful defences of his crown with victories coming against Earnie Shavers, Trevor Berbick and Muhammad Ali.

Holmes is known to have had one of, if not the best jabs in boxing history. His glittering career would not come to an end until 2002, shortly after he defeated Erin ‘Butterbean’ Esch via unanimous decision in his 75th and final career outing at the Scope in Norfolk, Virginia.
