Deontay Wilder is weeks away from making his long-awaited return to the ring.
The 39-year-old from Tuscaloosa, Alabama has not fought since he was knocked out by Zhilei ‘Big Bang’ Zhang in brutal fashion last year, making it four defeats in the last five outings for the former WBC heavyweight champion.
Wilder had been urged by fans and pundits alike to draw the curtain on what has been a rollercoaster professional career, but ‘The Bronze Bomber’ appears to have other ideas as he targets another opportunity at becoming a world champion for the second time.
As he prepares to face countryman Tyrrell Herndon in a non-title showdown on June 27, Wilder has also been called out by Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who claims he is one of the most ‘feared’ heavyweights on the planet.
In an interview with TMZ, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ sent a stern response to Miller’s call-out message.
“The only thing he’s smashing is burgers, and he barely do that well. With him, it’s all talk, talk, talk. But if that fight does land for him, I can’t wait for it. I hope he’s already paid for his grave burial. I don’t play around. If I saw him today I’d slap the f**k outta him right now. Deontay Wilder has returned. Everybody better respect the name.”
Miller also makes his long-awaited return to the ring on June 7 when he faces the Britain’s unbeaten Fabio Wardley for the WBA ‘Interim’ heavyweight title at Portman Road stadium, the home ground of Wardley’s beloved Ipswich Town Football Club.
