Fans are criticizing Keyshawn Davis for apologizing for what took place for what was supposed to be a title defense on June 7th against Edwin De Los Santos.

What angered fans was the way the former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn circled back at the end of his written apology, saying, “In the end, the truth will reveal itself.” The statement suggests that Davis is playing the victim, even though he’s the one who missed weight and was involved in a dressing room scuffle that night with Nahir Albright.

Accountability: Davis Under Fire

Fans view that remark as a sign that Davis doesn’t want to take accountability for coming in 4 pounds overweight for his title defense against De Los Santos, and subsequently being stripped of his WBO title. De Los Santos’ promoter wasn’t going to allow him to take the much bigger Keyshawn under those circumstances.

Davis-Albright Scuffle Details

Then there’s also the incident with Keyshawn going into Nahir Alright’s dressing room after he’d beaten his brother Kelvin Davis. Albright claimed that Keyshawn jumped him.

“I apologize to everyone I affected. I let my supporters down, especially the youth who looked up to me. I will set a better example. And in the end, the truth will reveal itself,” said Keyshawn Davis on Instagram.

It took nearly three weeks for Keyshawn to issue his opponent. Ideally, he should have done this a day after missing weight and being involved in the dressing room incident. Some fans want Keyshawn to be suspended for what took place.

If Davis’ promoters are the ones who advised him to issue the apology in an attempt to improve his public image, they should have edited out the last part, “In the end, the truth will reveal itself.” That comment suggests that Keyshawn is trying to weasel out of taking responsibility for what he did on June 7th..

What truth can change Keyshawn’s missing weight? There’s nothing that can explain that away.
