The final press conference for The Ring 6 unfolded at Madison Square Garden, with Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson trading pointed remarks ahead of Saturday night’s main event.

Lopez will defend his Ring Magazine and WBO super lightweight titles against Stevenson, who is aiming to become a four-division world champion in his 28th professional bout.

The fight takes place on Saturday, January 31, live worldwide on DAZN PPV, with Madison Square Garden sold out for the occasion.

Lopez points to camp progress and mindset

Lopez spoke confidently about his preparation, highlighting the work done alongside his father and assistant trainer during camp.

“It’s been very good. Stacy McKinley has been helping out and training me at his gym, alongside my father,” said Lopez.

“The amount of knowledge that’s been bestowed in my skills and the amount of progress I’ve been creating has really made an impact.

“I feel very good, excited, determined, and I can’t wait to display that on Saturday.”

Asked whether this was the best he had felt going into a fight, Lopez offered a more personal reflection.

“Yes, but more importantly, my soul feels great, like a beacon.”

Stevenson keeps it “all business” and leans into motivation

Stevenson, undefeated, a three-division star ranked number 8 on the WBN Pound for Pound List, kept his emotions in check throughout the press conference.

When asked about bringing children from New Jersey to watch him compete on Saturday night, Stevenson emphasized the responsibility he feels beyond the ring.

“It means everything to me. I usually do this before a lot of my fights, but it means everything for the kids to get motivation by seeing me fight. They get to see somebody from the same circumstances, but my main thing is to give them motivation.”

Despite the magnitude of the matchup, Stevenson dismissed any suggestion that the fight had become personal.

“It’s all business. I’m not treating it that way, but I’m one hundred percent focused, and we’ll see on Saturday night.”

When pressed on the challenge Lopez presents, Stevenson kept it brief.

“We’ll see. He’s a good fighter.”

James Prince, of J Prince Boxing Gym, praised Stevenson’s discipline and preparation, describing him as “one of a kind” and “a student of the game.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn highlighted the significance of the setting, describing Madison Square Garden as “The Mecca of Boxing,” while noting the event is a completely sold-out night in New York.

Beyond the main event, the card features a deep undercard led by WBO No. 1 contender Keyshawn Davis against Jamaine Ortiz in the co-main event, alongside world title action involving Carlos Adames and Austin “Ammo” Williams, Brooklyn favorite Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, and heavyweight Jarrell Miller.
