Mickey Rourke has issued a further public statement condemning a GoFundMe campaign created in his name, with the fundraiser no longer visible on the platform.

The actor confirmed that over $100,000 had been raised and said his legal team is working to ensure donors receive their money back.

Rourke: “Cruel embarrassment” and a push for refunds

Rourke addressed the situation directly in a social media post, describing the fundraiser as a “cruel embarrassment” and urging contributors to reclaim their money.

“I am so upset and embarrassed about the scam to raise money for me, which, as I’ve stated, was a cruel embarrassment,” Rourke wrote. “Over $100,000 was raised by concerned strangers and others. My attorney is doing everything in his power to make sure anyone who gave their hard-earned money is quickly refunded.”

How the controversy unfolded

Early January 2026A GoFundMe campaign appears online claiming to raise funds on Rourke’s behalf. The fundraiser quickly attracts donations totaling more than $100,000.

Mid-January 2026Rourke publicly distances himself from the campaign, stating he did not authorize it and does not want the money.

January 16–17, 2026Rourke posts a strongly worded statement condemning the fundraiser and calling on donors to seek refunds, saying a large portion of the money still needs to be returned.

Latest updateThe GoFundMe campaign is no longer visible on the platform, suggesting it has been paused, removed, or taken offline as refund efforts continue.

“Please, people, get your money”

In his latest remarks, Rourke stressed that his priority is ensuring contributors are reimbursed and that no funds remain with the person who created the campaign.

“Truthfully, there is still over $90,000 that needs to be returned to concerned parties who sent their money,” he said. “Please, people, get your money. The person who pulled this should not get one dollar.”

Rourke also used the post to redirect attention toward his friend, actor Eric Dane.

“All I am concerned with at this moment is the health and well-being of my friend, actor Eric Dane,” Rourke added. “Please send Eric some strong prayers.”

Rourke has stated that his attorney is handling the matter and has continued to encourage donors to reclaim their contributions.
