The Shame Of Norfolk: Nahir Albright’s One-Sided Victory Over Kelvin Davis Leads To Post-Fight Dressing Room Altercation With Keyshawn Davis

Nahir Albright (17-2, 7 KOs) took over Norfolk, making DB3 look bad with his domination of Kelvin Davis (15-1, 8 KOs), beating him by a 10-round majority decision on Saturday night in front of a large crowd at the Scope Arena.

Albright’s Golden Comeback Win

Fresh off a two-year layoff, Albright looked like pure gold tonight, out-punching and outclassing Kevin, basically winning every round of the fight in the true sense, but not in the eyes of the Virginia judges working the fight.

The scores

– 95-95– 97-93– 96-94

Albright had Kelvin staggering in rounds two and four from his lightning-quick right and left-hand power shots. In the fourth, Kelvin tried to pull back after throwing a shot, and Albright caught him with a left that wobbled him.

Lamprey-Like Clinches Defined

From rounds 5 through 10, Kelvin was in survival mode, holding and moving. Whenever Albright came close, he’d instinctively grab him to keep him from throwing. He wouldn’t let go. Kelvin resembled a giant sea lamprey fish, the way he attached himself to Albright and would not let go. The referee could have disqualified Kelvin for the holding because it was beyond excessive. I’ve never seen a fighter hold as much as Davis did tonight without being disqualified. In the seventh, Albright suffered a cut from a head-butt during one of Kelvin’s prolonged clinches.

Davis lacked the hand speed, jab, or the power to land anything of substance on Albright. Most of the shots that Kelvin threw, Albright would block or move his head to avoid them.

The fight was so one-sided that it’s difficult to see Kelvin Davis come back from it to be included on future Top Rank cards. Why would they allow him to be on their cards? They need to focus on using only talented fighters on their cards, ones with a future. Kelvin has no future, and it’s a waste of time for Top Rank to protect him with careful matchmaking. I mean, they’re already doing that with Keyshawn Davis.

Keyshawn’s Locker Room Ambush

The shame of watching his brother, Kelvin, get schooled from A to B by Albright may have been too much for Keyshawn to take. According to Nahir, he was jumped by him in his dressing room after the fight. Albright says Keyshawn and his brother, Keon, came to his dressing room and tried to rough him up. I can’t say I’m surprised.

Keyshawn has probably kept the kettle on the boil since Albright fought him to a standstill in their 2023 fight. Albright made Keyshawn look almost as bad in that fight as he did against Kelvin tonight. However, the judges gave Keyshawn 10-round majority decisions. The fan saw it as a draw. I watched the fight, and I had Albright winning handily.

“I was in my locker room and celebrating my victory with my team. Keyshawn and his little brother [Keon] came in. They were saying their older brother [Kelvin Davis] was mad,” said Nahir Albright to the media after the fight, talking about being jumped by Keon and Keyshawn Davis. “He [Keyshawn] grabbed me, and he headbutted me.”

Albright says he wants a rematch with Keyshawn. I seriously doubt that’ll happen because Davis is focused on getting money fights. So, he’s going to be targeting ‘The Big Three,’ Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, and Devin Haney.
