Bayern Munich made their way into the next round of the FIFA Club World Cup following a thrilling 4-2 victory over Flamengo. The Bundesliga side will face a tougher test, though, in the quarter-final as they set to meet the reigning Champions League winner, Paris Saint-Germain.
Bayern Beat Flamengo to Book Quarter-final Ticket
The Bundesliga outfit was facing a tricky last-16 battle as Flamengo had won their group, beating Chelsea in the process. However, Bayern managed to showcase their quality from the start and went 2-0 up in less than 10 minutes.
An own goal from Erick Pulgar and Harry Kane’s strike put the Bavarians in the driving seat early on, before Flamengo pulled one back through Gerson. Bayern regained their two-goal advantage just before the half-time break with a goal from Leon Goretzka, giving them a comfortable lead going into the second period.
The Brazilian side did not give up easily as they kept pushing hard and managed to make it 3-2 thanks to Jorginho’s spot kick on 55 minutes. However, Bayern eventually sealed their victory with another goal from Kane, who netted home on 73 minutes.
PSG Book Bayern Date After Trashing Messi’s Inter Miami
In the next round, Bayern will be facing PSG, who earned a comfortable 4-0 victory over Lionel Messi’s MLS outfit. The Ligue 1 giant immediately put their opponent under pressure and opened the scoring after just six minutes through João Neves.
After a series of missed chances, Luis Enrique’s men finally doubled their lead, once again from Neves’ goal. The newly crowned UCL winner made it 3-0 from Tomas Aviles’ own goal, before Achraf Hakimi sealed their victory in stoppage time.
PSG lowered their intensity in the second half, but it was more than enough to maintain their 4-0 victory. The French side will be gearing up for a tougher battle in the quarter-final against Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich.
