Brentford v Chelsea – Line-ups, stats and preview

Match Preview for Brentford v Chelsea

Chelsea make the short trip to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday for their fourth London derby of the season, as they face Brentford in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca’s side have yet to leave the capital this campaign, and their early form has been impressive, with the Blues sitting in second place heading into the weekend.

Chelsea return from the international break after a controversial but valuable 2-0 victory over Fulham.

Regardless of the debate, Maresca’s team added another three points and maintained their unbeaten home league run in 2025.

It has been one of Chelsea’s strongest starts in recent seasons, winning at least two of their opening three fixtures for only the second time in seven years.

Defensive stability has also been evident, with nine clean sheets in their last 15 games. With a demanding run of away fixtures looming – including Bayern Munich and Manchester United – the Blues will want to build momentum here.

Brentford, however, are eager to bounce back after a stoppage-time defeat to Sunderland before the break.

Keith Andrews’ side have endured a tricky start to the season, with two losses in their opening three matches.

After losing key figures over the summer, including Yoane Wissa to Newcastle on deadline day, many anticipated a more difficult campaign.

That said, the Bees have already shown they can be dangerous at home, beating Aston Villa earlier in the season. They have now won three of their last four at the Gtech, but face a daunting schedule with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle all to come.

Historically, this fixture has favoured the away side – just one of the eight Premier League meetings has been won by the hosts.

Chelsea will take confidence from that, but Brentford have avoided defeat in three of the four previous clashes at home.

Team news for Brentford v Chelsea

Brentford replaced outgoing star Wissa with deadline-day signing Reiss Nelson, though the winger is still working toward full fitness after missing August at Arsenal.

Igor Thiago has been a bright spot with three goals already, while Vitaly Janelt could return after missing international duty with a foot issue. Gustavo Nunes and Yunus Konak remain sidelined.

For Chelsea, Cole Palmer has returned to training but remains a doubt after missing two league matches and the international break.

Romeo Lavia and BenoIt Badiashile are in a similar position, edging closer to returns but unlikely to start.

Liam Delap is out with a hamstring injury, while Alejandro Garnacho could make his debut following his summer move from Manchester United.

Expected line-ups for Brentford v Chelsea

Brentford: Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Yarmolyuk, Henderson, Damsgaard; Outtara, Igor Thiago, Schade

Chelsea: Sanchez; Gusto, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Enzo; EstevAo, Pedro Neto, Garnacho; JoAo Pedro
