A fight breaks out between Bristol City and Millwall players and staff after the final whistle of Saturday’s Championship clash.
Millwall came away with all three points, a win on the road through Mihailo Ivanovic’s goal on Saturday afternoon.
But there were unsavoury scenes on the touchline, with it claimed that Alex Neil refused to shake Gerhard Struber’s hand, with Bristol City captain Jason Knight pushing the Millwall boss, before everyone then got involved.
Alex Neil said after the game – “I went to shake his hand at the end of the game and he [Struber] sort of pulled his hand away. We certainly weren’t instigators in that.”
Struber meanwhile responded saying “It’s a big joke”. and added “I will say this crystal clear. I showed him my hand twice and he was not ready to shake hands.”
Missed a bit of this the last few seasons.

Only caught the end of the big punch up at the end of the #bristolcity and #millwall game.
Typical Alex Neil team. Ugly football, only tactic was to try to injure City’s players.
Fuck Millwall. Horrible club, horrible fans, horrible football. Cunts. pic.twitter.com/zm8rm9SX43

Millwall manager Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:
“Today was a grinding performance where we needed to do the nasty bits of the game well and we would get opportunities and if we could take them we’d win and that’s what we did.
“We’re not trying to kid ourselves or anyone else that we popped Bristol off the pitch but we defended resolutely and we carried a threat second half and if we can do that more often than not we can win games.
“What you have to bear in mind is how many players we have missing. For the lads to come through this test, come here to Bristol City who are a good side, manage to get the win and keep a clean sheet…brilliant.”
The gaffer reflects on an important win!

@harryymayy: Proper old school wall livermore. Loves it. I doubted if we had proper millwall fighting spirit in this side but seeing them all backing it like that has squashed any doubts.
@CAslett97: Their captain pushed Alex Neil and it stemmed from there. Livermore throttled him.
@charliemfc: Neil didn’t shake their managers hand because they didn’t stop bitching all game. So their captain decided to shove Alex Neil…. Then Livermore bashed them all up.

@StanLDN: David Livermore you fucking legend #Millwall
@Georgethem_ster: Apparently Struber went in for another usual handshake, but Alex Neil slapped his hand away, then knight got involved and someone had his hands around his throat. That’s at least all I understand 😂
