Leeds United are considering parting ways with Daniel Farke this summer ahead of a spending spree on new signings, with a battle set to ensue with fellow relegation battlers Crystal Palace.
Leeds plotting summer spree after Buonanotte struggles
A report from Mike Keegan of The Daily Mail has shared insight on 49ers Enterprises’ plans for Leeds in the coming years, with the American owners set to be ambitious in looking up the Premier League table rather than over their shoulder.
Indeed, Keegan reports Leeds bosses are hoping to spend around £100m on new signings this summer after their lone January signing, Facundo Buonanotte has failed to make an impact.
“It’s always important you are not carried away by expectations from a signing,” Farke said on Buonanotte’s struggles ahead of the clash with Aston Villa.
“Sometimes you bring a new player in and excitement and expectation is so high. This is the message I gave him from when he arrived.
“We haven’t signed him to improve our 11 straight away. We signed him to improve the depth in our squad. We let Jack Harrison and Harry Gray go out on loan. We spoke openly with Facundo about it. We want to make sure we hold the pressure high on our other options.”
The Brighton youngster was withdrawn at half-time in his only start for Leeds, and as there is no option to make the deal permanent, is expected to return to the South coast this summer.
In his place, Leeds plan to spend around £100m to improve the squad, with a new goalkeeper and marquee striker the areas of focus, but it is yet to be seen if Farke will be around to lead that charge.

Leeds set to battle with Crystal Palace for new manager
The 49ers group have aggressive plans for Leeds over the next few years, and with just a year remaining on Farke’s contract could yet decide to change the man in the dugout ahead of their summer rebuild.
Farke has a huge say in signings currently, but is yet to begin talks over extending his deal, leading the owners to ponder cutting the chord 12 months early.
Football FanCast sources understand their decision could be influenced by the fact they expect to be shopping in the same manager market as Crystal Palace, who are soon to part ways with Oliver Glasner.
Both sides believe a young, attack-minded manager is needed to take their clubs to the next level, with former RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose one name on both shortlists.
Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness is another name under consideration, but the 43 year-old will be extremely difficult to tempt away with his side currently sat in the Bundesliga’s top four.
