Leicester fans divided over protests against the owners as counter-protest surfaces

Leicester fans divided over protests against the owners as a counter-protest surfaces on social media after defeat to Southampton.

Supporters are talking about a fan-led ‘Unite for Change’ initiative calling for the removal of club executives, including director of football Jon Rudkin, due to mismanagement amid a poor season.

A counter-movement however, supporting ‘King Power,’ linked to owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, has defended the board.

On February 28th, we’ll march to protect the future of our club.

It’s time for King Power to sell.

It’s time for change.#UniteforChange #LCFC pic.twitter.com/jS3wOp9a1C

PROTEST PLANS:

With King Power as owners, Leicester City supporters experienced some of the greatest moments in our history, and that gratitude will always remain.

However, after years of sustained decline on and off the pitch, culminating in the recent points deduction as a result of multiple PSR breaches, it is now undeniable that the club’s current ownership model and leadership are no longer fit for purpose.

For Leicester City to rebuild with stability, restore standards and reconnect with its supporters, new ownership is now required.

Join us for a protest march prior to the Norwich match.

When: Saturday 28th February. March departs at 11.30. Meet Point: Outside F Bar on Walnut Street. End Point: Outside of the club shop at King Power Stadium.

Once we reach the stadium, please stick together and make your voices heard.

Turn up, bring your banners, bring your voices and take this opportunity to make a real difference.

WE WANT OUR LEICESTER BACK.

THE REALITY

• The owner is not going to sell. His father gave his life for this football club. In his position, would any of us walk away? No.

• Accepting that reality, we need to wake up and focus on how we, as supporters, respond.

A GENUINE CHANGE MANIFESTO BEGINS WITH:

• The continued removal of John Rudkin from Leicester footballing duties.

• Exploring alternative investment opportunities beyond the current ownership structure. The chairman’s father gave his life to this club. We owe it to that legacy to support his son — while recognising that he must be guided by the right people and football expertise around him.

WHAT MUST CHANGE IN THE STANDS

• If we are to avoid relegation, it will start from the stands.

• Too often the atmosphere has been flat. Even at 3-0 up against Southampton, the stadium was quiet. That cannot continue.

• Win, lose or draw — we sing. One goal down? It does not matter. The message must be belief, not frustration.

• When was the last time you heard Mavididi’s song? Or Daka’s? The players know they have been criticised. They have heard it. Now is the time to lift them.

FINAL CALL

• Stop the boos.

• Stop the “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” chants. That message has already been delivered.

WE STAND WITH THE FAMILY. WE BACK THE TEAM.

These Leicester fans have been put through hell by us twice in a week 😭 #SaintsFC #LCFC pic.twitter.com/bXPRpm2CSu

Club is in shambles! Another loss. Played ok in periods, but this team has no backbone. It’s the status quo again. No surprise, there are people clapping at the end. We are screwed.#LCFC pic.twitter.com/JMeDysECzZ

“[There’s] disappointment,” Andy King said after the FA Cup defeat to Southampton.

“No one hates losing for this Football Club more than I do but I think today we saw loads of positives. The young lads came in and did really well. We had four teenagers in the team from the start and that’s a big step.

“They did really well and handled the occasion well. They played really well together. I saw loads of what I see the team looking like moving forward in terms of the style of play and the way the players went about it. There were some really good performances. But it’s another loss.

“In key moments, we have to be better, because they are hurting us at the moment. We can’t give away a penalty with a minute to go before half-time after what’s been a good first half and we go in one down.

“We get ourselves back in the game and it looks like we’re going to go on and win it and with 10 minutes left of extra-time we concede from a set play. It’s so avoidable.

“[We had] chances and we have to be more clinical and more ruthless. Even in the first half, we got in some good positions and probably didn’t make the most of it in terms of the shooting not being right or we didn’t commit enough bodies forward into the box in the second half.

“We’re having good control and getting in good positions, but we don’t make the most of it and then we go down the other end and teams don’t seem to have to work that hard to score against us. They’ve scored from a penalty and a set play so that’s ultimately decided the game today.

“We’re out of the cup. It’s about the next 12 or 13 games that we’ve got left in the league. The games are coming so we have to front it up and stand up to it, however we feel about confidence or being fragile at the back.

“It’s about us now getting enough points between now and the end of the season to make sure we stay in the league. It’s always a big week whenever you’re at this Football Club. The situation here will always be to try and win every game and that’s the same going into Stoke as well.”

It’s the hope that kills you. Other than immediately after our equaliser the team didn’t look up for it. Very telling that @AndyKingy came to us after the match but didn’t hang around with the players, where were the home fans #LCFC #FACup #cremonese pic.twitter.com/FhGgBc1dto

Leicester owner speaks on club’s struggles, fans’ chants, PSR ruling, future plans

As mentioned, Leicester fans are divided over protests against the owners as a counter-protest surfaces…

@hursty16: We have all got to get behind this. We cannot let our beloved club sink into oblivion because of the total mismanagement of two individuals not fit for purpose. We need change and we need to Unite for Change before it’s too late. #lcfc 💙🦊

@BTG_Tom_: Are they fans are quite happy that we could go bankrupt and not have a football club anymore ?

@hb_640: Some of this would be fair enough, but the people who support this are the ones that sit in silence and leave 10 minutes early.

@Dazizz: This real? They can’t genuinely be advocating cheering losing 4-3 having been 3-0 up? That’s mental! Plenty of crap has happened there during entirety of KP ownership.

@sam22ngram: This has to be fucking satire 😂 some proper mongs in our fan base

@marcuspolo1981: Fuck me the happy clappers don’t give up they are genuinely insane

@ARRESTWARD: We are so fucked, seen more cohesion surrounding protests and counter protests then I have genuine partisan unified support over the last 18 months. Just depressing

@B_____W_: I feel sick to the stomach, will they still “stand with the team” when we’re in mid table league 1? Melts. #LCFC

@Ross_Edmo: Bottom 3 , rotting as a club at a alarming rate. Not any closer to getting a manager sorted because we’re skint. Fan engagement at an all time low. Performances been lacking for many seasons now. Ill always be grateful for what we have seen but it’s time to sell! #LCFC

@ChrisLCFC1884: If you genuinely asked our fanbase to contribute to buying out KP’s ownership I wonder how much you’d be able to raise. If say 30k people gave £100 (or the cost of 3 tickets) you’d have raised 3 million, more than enough for a fan owned stake in the club. Food for thought #LCFC

@CharlieJC93: We’re reaching a point where Leicester City’s very existence is under threat. The club is on the cusp of consecutive relegations with completely unsustainable operational costs. Years of gross mismanagement, stemming from the Top, have led us here. Change is needed #LCFC
