Liverpool still can’t seem to get themselves out of their current crisis as they suffered another defeat this weekend. The Reds picked up their fourth consecutive defeat following a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United.
Liverpool Stunned by Man United at Anfield
Losing their last three matches in all competitions, the Reds were determined to end it as they host their arch-rival this Sunday. However, things were not in their favour, especially early on, as it was Man United that got the early blow through Bryan Mbuemo’s goal after just two minutes of play.
That early deficit put Liverpool under so much pressure and affected their performance and composure as they were missing some important chances. After continuous pressure, the home team finally got back on level terms thanks to Cody Gakpo’s effort on 78 minutes.
However, keen on grabbing the winner after equalizing, Liverpool lost their focus at the back and left Harry Maguire in space to regain United’s lead on 84 minutes. Despite still being able to create some goal-scoring chances, Arne Slot’s men failed to get another equalizing goal until the final whistle was blown.
A massive disappointment for Liverpool as the defending champion is not just slipping in the standings, but needs to regain its confidence. Meanwhile, for United, that victory gave them a much-needed morale boost after such a difficult start to their season.
