My Tenant Turned My Home Into a Nightclub!

Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has shared a post on X about finally parting ways with his first ever home in Liverpool, 18 years after buying it. 🔴

In a post on X titled “My First Home in Liverpool”, the Dutch star reflected on the highs, lows, and chaos that came with owning his first property after leaving his parents’ house.

“After 18 years, I’ve finally cleaned up all the banking drama and the wild tenant stories that came with my very first property,” Babel wrote. “The time has come to pass it on to its next lucky owner.”

Babel described the home as a place full of memories — a symbol of his early years in England after joining Liverpool from Ajax in 2007. But what really caught fans’ attention was one unforgettable story involving a fellow Dutch footballer: Royston Drenthe.

“One of my tenants was my good old Dutch teammate Royston Drenthe,” Babel recalled. “Let’s just say he gave ‘tenant from hell’ a new meaning… he somehow forgot to pay rent during his Everton days and even decided to build a nightclub inside my house without permission. You can’t make this stuff up!” 😂

Despite the chaos, Babel admitted he’s always been proud to own the property, describing it as “a prime spot filled with memories, laughter, and a bit of chaos.”

The only reason for selling now? A costly mortgage lesson.

“The only reason I’m selling now is because of that interest-only adjustable-rate mortgage I was talked into back when I knew absolutely nothing about real estate,” he wrote. “Lesson learned the hard way!”

Babel closed his post on a positive note, wishing the next owner happiness and smoother sailing:

“Whoever ends up with this house next… I hope it brings you just as much joy (and maybe fewer surprises) as it did me.” ❤️
