Joyous scenes for Nottingham Forest as they condemn Liverpool to sixth defeat in their last seven Premier League games.
It went from bad to worse for Liverpool on 78 minutes when Omari Hutchinson forced a save from Alisson but the ball fell to Morgan Gibbs-White to make it 3-0. Liverpool fans filtered out of Anfield.
Martin Keown – On whether there should be pressure on Arne Slot’s job at Liverpool: “I don’t think you can win the league one year and get sacked the next. It’s remarkable what we are seeing with Liverpool. Their fall from grace and to lose this many games at the start of the season, they are eight points behind top spot, it is unthinkable really from this time last season.”
Paul Robinson – BBC Radio 5 Live at Anfield: “Three goals. Three points for Nottingham Forest. The away end erupts. They are delighted and it is no ore than they deserve. For the first time in a long time, Anfield starts to empty with 10 minutes still to go.”
Ashley Williams – on Final Score: “Sean Dyche has done a job on Liverpool. We all knew they were going to come with a low block, transition fast and get bodies in the box. They have real quality in forward areas and Liverpool can’t deal with that.”
John Bennett – reporter at Anfield: “The Forest fans are on their feet. It’s the second time they have seen their team win at Anfield in as many seasons. For Liverpool their campaign goes from bad to worse. What will Arne Slot make of this defeat?”
–
Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche, speaking to PLP: “I thought they started really fast after a tough result at Man City. The defensive unit was great. I’m really pleased with that early stage. It’s really tough to dominate the ball on a ground like this.
On quick second: “I was super pleased with that. Half-time when you’re 1-0 up at Anfield is a strange thing. I wanted them to do the basics, but we went and scored. We did a very good job of seeing the game through.
“We want to build that competitive mentality. I always have a team that is competitive. That is a big marker for me. I do remind them that this is another step. The fans can have that one.
“Timing in football can be everything. Whether it’s a player, a manager or a coach. I want to look after this football club, it’s important for me to do everything we can.”
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to PLP: “We concede too many easy goals. They scored obviously from a set piece again. You can ask if he was in front of Alisson, but it counted, so we’re 1-0 down. We were not good in terms of battles, challenges, the fight, too rushed. It’s a very difficult situation at the moment.
“There was nervousness after we conceded, but not before. We tried to rush things and that’s human when you’re in a difficult moment. We cleared the ones before and in the end, we’te in a very difficult moment. We don’t get out of it by just speaking about it. It will take a lot of hard work.
“It’s a problem. Everyone in the team has to take responsibility as well. Football is a team and everyone has to take responsibility. We have to digest this and take it on the chin. We need to work harder. We have to keep going.
“Everyone is disappointed, like they should be, because losing at home to Nottingham Forest is, in my eyes, very bad. That’s the least I can say about it. Those goals we conceded are far too easy and we all have to look in the mirror. I’ve been at this club so long now and we’ve been through adversity. We will bounce back but it doesn’t happen overnight. I’m not a quitter and we will keep going.
“I can’t decide what the supporters are doing if they leave early. I know the fans have been through thick and thin with us. They will be there with us when we come out of this because we will come out of this.”

Arne Slot will endure some brutal headlines for this pitiful performance. £400m+ spent, champions weakened, identity and intensity faded, system scrambled. Slot’s accountable. But his players, new (Isak) and established (Konate), have to take more responsibility #LIVNFO #LFC

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, speaking to PLP: “I didn’t expect it but it’s happened. I’m out there trying to help the team as much as possible. I thought the boys were brilliant today. Delighted we got the three points but I hope we’re out of the relegation zone.
“We felt comfortable even though we didn’t have the ball. We were defensively secure and that’s credit to the boys and the manager. Delighted to get another goal but we got a clean sheet and three points at Anfield, which is an incredible thing.
“They’re still a great team with incredible individuals. When you’re in a tough patch, we know it’s hard to get out of it. We knew we’d have a chance and it was about us being solid and taking our chance when we got it.
“When Sean Dyche came in, he made it clear the season starts now. He’s been putting us to work, but we needed it to compete at the highest level. We’ve been running, running, running.
“Any game in the Premier League is difficult. We have to take it game by game.”
Nottingham Forest captain Ryan Yates, speaking to Sky Sports: “The lads were incredible. We thoroughly deserved the win and the dressing room is quite lively. We’re enjoying it.
On Liverpool: “They’re still a team full of a lot of quality and we knew that. When you come to Anfield, you have to weather the storm. We scored, knocked their confidence and never let them recover.
On Sean Dyche: “He’s been huge, him and his staff. They came in, embraced everything about the club. Brought that togetherness with the team and the fans, that’s massive at Forest. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves but it’s been a great start.
“We’ve got the quality but we need to back that up and work harder for each other every game. We’ve made good progress over the last few weeks, so let’s stay positive.
“It’s a big psychological boost getting out of the relegation zone but it’s harder staying out of it and that is what this club demands.”

Here’s how fans reacted after Nottingham Forest condemn Liverpool to sixth defeat in their last seven Premier League games…
@LBLFC_: We’ve been terrorised by a team 19th in the Premier League managed by Sean Fucking Dyche. It’s unacceptable.
@Bonalbio24: The biggest issue with this current Liverpool team is that we keep losing individual duels and don’t win enough 2nd balls. Quite simply the opposition is outworking/out fighting us consistently. The games we have won recently Aston Villa/Real Madrid we won those battles 👍🏻 #LFC
@hump_3s: Slots deserves the sack if he picks Konate again. You don’t get to keep your place in the team when you’re as poor as he has been this season. And stop putting Szbo right back! He’s our best player this season! #LFC
@rnevitt: Diabolical. No plan how to attack. No appetite to defend. Each tactical change made us worse. Manager looks lost, players look shot. 6 losses in 7 league games, 8 in 11. Not sure how much longer this can go on, personally I think he’s done. #LFC
@thekopiteway:✅ No fight✅ No passion✅ No ideas✅ No plan B✅ Defensively awful✅ Players ducking out of challenges✅ Forwards flat✅ Leadership non existent✅ So much wrong with this team right now✅ We are 11th & a shambles to watch✅ PSV (H) Wednesday#LFC 🔴
@yatesinho: #lfc biggest issue is the reliance on salah, konate and VVD all got the retirement pay off and it shows, £400m spent in the summer aswell. Shockin, what a win by #nffc clinical for a change.
@AMyers1977: All is not well @LFC & it’s showing! Tactically very poor decisions from #Slot time & again. To many player changes in the summer? 🤷♂️ I don’t think Slot knows his best team or his best system, & if he doesn’t know, the players definitely don’t know, & it shows on the pitch! #LFC
@jamieallan1998: As mental as this is, the thing I’m most happy for is that clean sheet. So so glad we’ve got that monkey off our shoulder. What a fucking result!!
@mjgrace82: Unbelievable. That’s the best performance from a centre back pairing I’ve seen in a long time 👏 some team performance that 😍
@henjohansen1: Players are coming together and work so hard. Today both players and Dyche masterclass! Totally deserved and we actually let them off too easy, lol! M and M was a rock wall and everybody doing their part on top level. Massive and so important. We look to be back! 💪🏻⚽️🔴⚪️❤️
@saulhare: You sexy bastards! Play like that every week and we’ll be back in Europe next season in no time.
