Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls will lock horns with each other in Major League Soccer this week. The match between Robin Fraser’s side and Sandro Schwarz’s team will be held at the BMO Field in Toronto and is scheduled to kick off at 12:30am UK time on Thursday.

Toronto FC are a modest club based in Canada that compete in Major League Soccer. The Reds were founded only in 2005 and have established themselves a leading club in their own country. Toronto FC have won the Canadian Championship on eight occasions, reached the final of the 2028 CONCACAF Champions League and ended up runners-up in the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019.

Robin Fraser’s side have been dire this season. The Reds, who finished 11th in the standings in the 2024 campaign, are second from bottom in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference table and have picked up just 13 points from 17 matches. 

Toronto FC will head into the Major League Soccer game against the New York Red Bulls on Thursday evening on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Charlotte at home in the league. It came after a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Union, which followed a 2-1 defeat to Nashville in MLS.

Toronto FC are likely to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation against the New York Red Bulls. Sean Johnson will be in goal for the home team and will have Lazar Stefanovic, Zane Monlouis and Raoul Petretta in front of him in defence. Kosi Thompson, Deybi Flores, Jonathan Osorio and Tyrese Spicer will be the four midfielders. Maxime Dominguez and Lorenzo Insigne will be the two attacking midfielders. Ola Brynhildsen will lead the line for the Canadian club.

The New York Red Bulls are one of the most well-supported and well-known clubs in the USA. The Red Bulls always tend to at least challenge for the Major League Soccer playoffs. They ended up seventh in the MLS Eastern Conference in the 2025 campaign and will be determined to do better this time around.

Sandro Schwarz’s side are eighth in the Major League Soccer Eastern Conference table at the moment with 27 points from 18 games. The New York Red Bulls are a point behind seventh-placed and city rivals New York City.

The New York Red Bulls will head into the Major League Soccer game against Toronto FC this week on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Austin FC away from home in MLS. It came after a 2-0 victory over Atlanta United in front of their fans in Major League Soccer, which followed a 4-2 win against Charlotte FC in the league.

The New York Red Bulls are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Toronto FC. Carlos Coronel will be in goal for the visiting team. Kyle Duncan, Noah Eile, Alexander Hack and Raheem Edwards will be the four midfielders. Daniel Edelman and Peter Stroud will be the two holding midfielders. Cameron Harper, Emil Forsberg and Wikelman Carmona will be the three attacking midfielders. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will lead the line for the visiting team.
