Sheffield United are now on the verge of securing a deal to sign a defensive addition, who is represented by the same agent as Mark McGuinness.
Wilder anticipating “great” Millwall challenge
Whilst the chaos commences in the build-up to transfer deadline day, Chris Wilder has the tough task of guiding his side to victory against a Millwall side who are currently on course to secure a place in the Championship’s play-offs.
The Sheffield United boss previewed Saturday’s clash, telling reporters: “They’re (Millwall) a really honest bunch of players. I like the manager. I’ve known him for a long time.
“He’s had a successful managerial career starting off at Hamilton and then going into the Premier League with Norwich and he’s a good operator and they’ve got a real honest bunch of players that find themselves in fifth position.
“So, what does a team of honest players do for you? They want to fight and want to run around and want to play football and want to play effective football and want to win games and they’ve done that. So it’s a great challenge, one that I’m looking forward to.
“I really like going there. It might sound daft, but I do. I think it’s a proper football ground. It’s going to be a full house. It’s a great experience for our younger players as well. We’ve talked to the likes of Femi, Blaster, Sydie and Brooksy.”
The Den will certainly provide a testing atmosphere too. It has a reputation as one of the toughest places to go for good reason and Wilder will be well aware of that.

As reported by Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Sheffield United are now closing in on a deal to sign Harry McGlinchey in a permanent deal from Chelsea, having secured pole position ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City.
Both Birmingham and Wolves have been chasing the left-back’s signature, but it looks as though the Blades have stolen a march on their transfer rivals this time around.
On paper, rumours that they’re set to fend off such interest may come as a surprise. After all, Birmingham are still play-off hopefuls and Wolves are still a Premier League side. But what they don’t have is the boost provided by Mark McGuinness.
The Sheffield United centre-back is represented by the same agency as McGlinchey and that may have helped the deal advance as the window approaches deadline day.
