Southampton fans fume after Blackburn come from behind to condemn the Saints to back-to-back defeats in the Championship on Saturday.
Late goals from Andri Gudjohnsen and Ryan Alebiosu helped Blackburn beat Southampton 2-1 despite Leo Scienza’s first-half opener for the visitors.
Will Still’s Saints ended the game with 10 men after Welington’s stoppage-time red card for serious foul play, while the victory lifted Rovers out of the bottom three to 21st and dropped Southampton to 20th.
Classic Saints to give Blackburn their first win at home via their striker’s first goal for the club. That’s always on the bingo card. Still accepts his share of the blame today, the fans rightly cycled through chants against the board and, crucially, the players too.#SaintsFC

Rovers’ first home win of the season took them above the relegation zone, and within a place of their beaten opponents Southampton, who have won just one of their past 11 games, piling more pressure on Will Still.
Will Still speaking to BBC Radio Solent after Southampton’s 2-1 defeat at Blackburn:
“It’s the same story, different day, we should be 3-0 up but we’re not, then we make mistakes, defend poorly and conceded two very soft and poor goals.
“I can understand fans’ frustration. We knew a lot of those players couldn’t play three 90 minutes in a week. Shea Charles was one of them. We didn’t have a choice. There was very limited options there today.
“We have hit the post, hit the keeper, put it wide, did everything but put it in the net.
“We’re in a really poor position, we have a lot of things to put right.
“If you don’t win you get under pressure. It’s not ideal, I know what it looks like, if the fans want to vent their frustration or be annoyed at someone they can be annoyed at me.
“But I know the team should be killing games off and winning this sort of game and we haven’t gone and done it.”
“You’re not fit to wear the shirt” chant the Saints fans. Leo Scienza tries to jeer them up. Not sure that will be enough. His goal wasn’t today. #SaintsFC pic.twitter.com/QLyDrs3XO4

Mads Roerslev said, per the club website: “We definitely just need to do better. No one is happy about this and we fully understand the fans’ point of view. We need to really lock in and turn things around. It turns into a pattern now and we’re the only ones who can turn it around. We really need to look each other in the eyes and do stuff better, basically. We need to demand more.
“It’s very important and it’s difficult sometimes to get into these negative periods where a lot of things don’t go our way, but the thing is the games come so quickly and there is another opportunity for three points next week, so we need to be on it.
“We can’t be thinking about all the negative stuff. We need to push each other in training this coming week and get recovered so we can put the freshest team out there. We need to do everything because in the end of the day, it’s only us who can turn this around. It’s not about any luck, it’s not about the opponent, it’s about us. I think we really just need to look each other in the eyes in the dressing room and everyone needs to demand more from each other.”
Blackburn boss Valerien Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire:
“It’s a great feeling to win at home, I want to give credit to the players for the second-half performance. It was exactly what we wanted – passion, desire, and belief. We came from behind and got the reward, thanks to a great mentality from the players.
“I was not pleased with the first half and I told them that at half-time, because it was not what we wanted or how we had played the last two games. We should have scored earlier in the game.
“Everyone stepped up in the second half and we were back on the level of performance we wanted. It’s great for Ryan and Andri to get their first goals, too.
“Today still showed us what we need to improve, we created a lot of chances but we weren’t clinical.
“We want to believe in ourselves, stay calm and focus. But this result will help us to build some confidence.”
As mentioned, Southampton fans fume after Blackburn come from behind to condemn Saints to back-to-back defeats…
@SFCMikeKavs: What about an open letter, from the fans to the club? Would that work? Please get them out. I know they’ve invested a lot in this club and I know it’s all pennies to them so ultimately they don’t care AND I know they purchased us on a cheap but… THEY HAVE TO GO #SaintsFC
@SFCDilly: I really appreciate that Solak loves the club, but my god, he is such an incompetent owner. Sure he provides us good money, but has the wrong people in charge of running the club. He needs to do something otherwise he’s going to keep wasting and losing his money. #SaintsFC
@AlanoSaint: It’s all very tiring to be honest. Absolute joke this week, led in both games and yet our ability to lose from winning positions is honestly the only consistent thing about us. Decision to take off Scienza today was nothing short of criminal. SR really are destroying our club!!!
@JacobSalter1: “Sacked in the morning “ by the away fans tells you everything you need to know. Disgraceful result and game management AGAIN. Want to back the manager but this is getting too much, players of course as much to fault. #saintsfc
@sj196704: @SouthamptonFC #SaintsFC Dragan said if he was the problem he would sell the club time to sell or cut your idiot arrogant pals out of the club and get some professionals in and prioritise this club not all the other Mickey Mouse outfits you have bought
@JaydeK19:This is all Sport Republic’s fault• They took another risk to appoint Will Still• Appointed Paul Trollope as assistant who had just be double relegated with Luton• Have Adam Lallana and Carl Martin as backroom staff who have no previous coaching experience• Failed to address signing the key areas of striker and goalkeeper (again)• 7 failed manager since 2022• 2 relegations since 2022• Poor recruitment• Failed to back the team to compete in the Premier LeagueThis is Sport Republic’s fault it’s been coming #saintsfc
@_ScottWinter_: Who actually joins this circus, not just as a manager but also as a player wanting to have a good career? The rot is so deep, we’ve become a laughing stock in world football, not just in our country. #SaintsFC
@jakeellery1: 4 league wins in 50 matches… It’s absolutely unacceptable. Since may 2024.. we have won 4 league games… #saintsfc
@SFCdailynews: #SaintsFC Fans do we boycott the game v Preston NE? Is WS The problem or SR? Something needs to change!
@CorkyMorris: Rotten top to bottom, the whole club. Miss multiple chances, can’t defend for toffee, shocking substitutions taking off our better players. Charles for the first goal is terrible. 1 win in 11. Almost a quarter of a season. Players, owners, mgt all should be embarrassed.
@dankiz1: All the Saints fans really want is hope at the moment, maybe a sprinkling of leadership, humility and courage! They are being laughed at by the board, manager and players for such unrealistic demands! #saintsfc
Yes, we have terrible owners, nobody is disputing that. But we also have a terrible manager who is so out of his depth it is painful. Regardless of who owns the club, this manager is not fit for purpose. Sack him. Tonight. #saintsfc pic.twitter.com/KKX8ycoUa5
