Thiago Motta was not happy with Juventus decision to sack him as the club’s head coach recently believing that they simply didn’t give him enough time.  Speaking in a recent interview, Motta also denied statments claiming that he didn’t get along with his players.

Motta Slams Juventus for His Sacking

The Bianconeri parted ways with Motta in late March after just nine months, despite voicing out statement of support weeks before. Juve’s management made that decision following two consecutive heavy defeats in Serie A against Atalanta and Fiorentina.

Morever, the Old Lady have also crahsed out of the Champions League and Coppa Italia, while struggling to challenge for the top four seat. Those seems to also be the reasoning for Motta’s sacking but the tactician simply didn’t think his short tenure was a failure.

Speaking to Italian media, Il Corriere della Sera, Motta refused to think that the work he did was a failure. The tactician explained that his work was still in line with Juve’s target this season, which is qualifying for the Champions League.

“I’m certainly disappointed because it didn’t go as we hoped, especially in the Coppa Italia and Champions League. However, I don’t agree when I hear talk of failure,” Motta said.

“Our work was interrupted when we were just one point off fourth place in the standings, which was, at the beginning of the season, the primary goal.”

Motta Denies Dressing Room Issues at Juventus

Moreover, the former Bologna boss also stated that he was expecting a much longer stay in Turin based on their initial plan. However, it looks like the Bianconeri eventually changed that idea and opted a different path.

“When I accepted this role with great enthusiasm, I knew it would be a three-year project, based on a profound revolution of the team and its radical rejuvenation.”

Meanwhile, the former defensive midfielder also refused recent rumors claiming that he didn’t have a good relationship with his players. Motta claims that he never had any issue with his players and their relationship is proffessional and good.

“These are the things that bother me because people can criticise me as a coach for my choices, and I accept that. But anyone who says I had the locker room against me is a liar,” the tactician stated.

“At Juventus, I had a great relationship with all my players, both professionally and personally. A relationship based on respect and clarity.”

In the end of the day, Juve have made their decision to part ways with Motta and is currently handing the tactician role to Igor Tudor.
