Wigan fans vent anger at players and Ryan Lowe after a 6-1 defeat against Peterborough in Legaue One on Saturday afternoon.
As per Wigan Today, the head coach’s position appears increasingly precarious amid the club’s relegation battle in League One, sitting 22nd with 31 points from 29 games played, 2 points from safety.
The post-match press conference was also cancelled. Local media were left waiting pitchside without any comments from Lowe.
Wigan fans vented their frustration through chants such as “you’re getting sacked in the morning” and “Ryan Lowe, your football is sh*t,” while also singing the name of former manager Shaun Maloney.

The vote of no confidence has to extend past the head coach to the whole structure for allowing this situation to continue, I have no faith in the whole hierarchy after seeing this! #wafc pic.twitter.com/M0ynYOt1Q9

FT Posh 6 Latics 1.That is as disappointing, deflating, devastating a defeat as I’ve seen in this job…and I’ve seen Latics lose 8-0 and 9-1. Where on earth do we go from here? #wafc pic.twitter.com/ZTz3ogSk5d

Attendance here is 8,442 with 413 from Wigan. Who I would suggest all deserve a medal for sitting/standing through this. #wafc

Posh boss Luke Williams said, per Peterborough Today: “It was a very pleasing performance. The game was a lot tougher than the scoreline suggests. We really have to give full credit to the players. They were really tenacious in the big moments.
“We didn’t have it all our own way, but we had a ruthlessness in the big moments and we’re blessed with goalscoring instinct, especially with Kyrell today while Harry has deserved more goals in the last few weeks. Pemi then comes off the bench and scores, like he has so many times while out on loan.
“Tom Lees is such a bright guy, wherever he ends up on the pitch, he understands what to do. He hit the ball across the box like a winger and then nods the ball back across the box like a number nine. He understands how to respond whatever position he is in.
“I’m disappointed for the players about the goal we conceded because we approached the game so well. There was an opportunity to clear the lines. It’s a fine line though between whether you clear your lines or whether you try and escape the opposition because when a player is brave enough to find their way out of trouble, they can begin a counter attack. The reaction to it is the most important thing though.
“We hit the ball long and Harry Leonard outjumps a man a foot taller than him and Jimmy-Jay Morgan has the courage to run onto it and outjump the keeper. I am very, very proud of him.
“In the second half, they had to come out and throw a lot of bodies forward and we were devastating on the break. We looked a big threat from set-pieces as well.
“The reaction to Pemi’s goal is so important to me. These characteristics protect a group against adversity and we are going to experience that. When I see them rejoicing with their teammate because of what it means to him, it is such a big deal. It says everything about the group.
“He made a brilliant first touch and then he’s so calm in selecting exactly the right finish. He has worked so hard since he returned since his loan.
“The only thing left to say about Kyrell Lisbie is ‘hands off!’ I am glad the window has shut. If you doubt Darragh MacAnthony or Barry Fry’s ability to spot a player, you are crazy! Yet again they have found a player playing in the lower leagues who looks like he can play at any level.”

Twitter users reacted while Wigan fans vent anger at players and Ryan Lowe after a 6-1 defeat against Peterborough…
@Warriorjim: Lowe, Rich and Guilfoyle, time to pack your bags and leave. Couldn’t careless how long you’ve been at the club, it belongs to the life long fans and we want you gone!
@mightybongsmon: How does any manager keep their job after that 💩 ? It’s the cherry on the cake of months and months of increasingly poorer and poorer performances
@alancat07: Couldn’t even face up to the fans, the gutless coward. Where was ‘our gaffer’ when ‘his’ team were getting torn a new arsehole in second half? Nowhere. Not stood in his technical area. Hiding in his seat. Bin 🚮 #wafc #calamighty
@RadishBrain: I don’t think it would be particularly sensible for the club to continue with the fans forum planned on the 11th, emotions are rightly running high and I cant see any positive outcome from it happening for all involved IMO #wafc
@Stuprimaryteach: Get out of OUR club Lowe. Embarrassing, the fans know, the players know , take ur smug attitude and get out! #wafc
@WillLatics71: I’m from the generation that has never seen Latics play below the third tier. The admin team propped up by short term contracts and journeyman defied the odds and stayed up, because they were proud to play for the badge. I just don’t see that this time. Grim #wafc
@harveyo01: One lesson to learn from RL’s tenure is that #wafc functions best when we have a manager who connects with the fans. Maloney, Richardson, Caldwell, Cook all had a long-standing association&cultivated their relationship with us.RL was foisted on us&made no attempt to connect with us
@CalWafc: Lowe needs sacking tonight but a few more need to follow! Club is a mess, so many incompetent people in positions they’re not qualified for, need a full revamp, will that happen under this ownership, I’m not convinced. Only get our club back when they sell up! #wafc
@Fudgy94492596: The ownership needs good look in mirror didn’t even appoint a ceo for over a year to many loans 3rd rate signings looks like ur data model as failed it’s ok danson n co made 300 grand of Calum lang on deadline day 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ll say it again all this starts at the top! #wafc
@joeflan91: I’ve supported this club for 30 odd years. When able I’ve watched every game. I didn’t even check the team sheet today. I’ve always been proud to support Latics but now I’m fucking embarrassed. Get that cunt out our club now. This isn’t the Latics I know and love #wafc
@LeonOlechnowicz: Needs a total refresh when we get rid of Lowe. Whelan etc got to go too for me. There’s enough in the squad to stay up with a competent set up #wafc
@garsy71: Walked straight off down the tunnel, if he goes tonight been too long coming, complete disconnect between manager and fans for months, board need to make the right appointment to recover this, unless of course the project is a managed decline to non league. #wafc
