Wolves agree Jhon Arias sale to make Fosun 50% profit, personal terms signed

Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal to sell an out of favour player for a hefty profit, with an official announcment imminent after the player signed personal terms.

Angel Gomes and Adam Armstrong could make their Wolves debuts against Chelsea on Saturday, Rob Edwards revealed in his pre-match press conference.

“I’ve always joked with him when we’ve spoken over the years that I’d sign him one day. It’s nice to be able to do it now and get him in the building,” the manager said on Gomes.

“He’s a brilliant technical player, really intelligent and versatile – which is something that always appeals to me.”

Asked about the potential of a big/little strike partnership between Armstrong and Tolu Arokodare, who has scored once in nine Premier League starts this season, Edwards said Armstrong’s arrival gives him the versatility to make a “slight difference” to his set-up.

Ladislav Krejci is available after recovering from illness, but one man who won’t be involved is forward Jhon Arias, who is now on the verge of a post-deadline day exit.

Wolves agree £21m deal to sell Arias

As reported by Ben Jacobs on X, Fosun have agreed to sell Wolves winger Arias to Brazilian side Palmeiras.

The fee is thought to be in the region of £21m, making Wolves a hefty 50 per cent profit on the £14m they paid to sign the forward from Fluminense.

Accordiung to reports in Brazil via Sport Witness, the player has already signed his personal terms with his new club, with Brazilian journalist André Rizek all but confirming the deal, explaining there is some unease within Fluminense about Arias signing for a rival club.

It’s fair to say the Colombia international has not lived up to the hype in the Premier League, scoring just once in 23 appearances in the competition this season, and the fact the Molineux outfit have managed to pull a profit from his time at the club has to be looked upon as a major coup.
