World Cup 2026 draw live in full: England, Scotland and home nations discover fate

It’s time for the much anticipated World Cup 2026 draw live in full as England and the other home nations discover their fate.

This tournament is the biggest ever with 48 teams and 12 groups, and for the draw, those teams will be split into four pots of 12 teams based on FIFA’s current rankings.

The ceremony begins at 5pm, with names to be drawn out just before 6pm (UK time). Scroll down further in this article to see a live stream as it happens.

Pot one will have the host countries, Canada, Mexico, as well as the USA, and also big teams like Brazil, France, England, and Spain, as they rank the highest. Then each group gets one team from each pot.

The hosts get special spots, Mexico in A1, Canada in B1 and USA in D1. This means they’re guaranteed the first position in those groups and play all their games in their own country.

No group can have two teams from the same confederation, so Brazil won’t face Argentina in the group stages for example.

There is an exception for Europe though, which we’ll see four groups have two nations because they have 16 teams in… England in pot 1, and avoid Brazil, France and Spain in the group stages because those teams are also in pot 1. They could only meet them later in the knockouts if both of them go far.

Scotland are in pot 3, Wales or Northern Ireland could also qualify via the playoffs in March.

Essentially it all means England will face a lower ranked team whilst the other home nations might draw a big side like world champions Argentina.
