300,000 in Attendance at 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix

300,000 fans attended the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix at a newly-revamped Hungaroring, a slight decrease on the 2024 figure.

Formula 1 has announced a weekend attendance of 300,000 at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix. It’s a decline of 10,000 on the 2024 figure and is also a 3,000 decrease on the 2023 number.

While Charles Leclerc took a shock pole position for Ferrari – the Italian team’s first Grand Prix pole of the year – it was Lando Norris who claimed the final victory before the summer break, leading home McLaren’s fourth consecutive 1-2 finish. The gap between Norris and championship leader Oscar Piastri now stands at just nine points with ten rounds remaining.

This was the 40th consecutive running of the Hungarian Grand Prix, with the Hungaroring having first joined the calendar in 1986. Only Monza – host of the Italian Grand Prix – can claim to have a longer active continuous presence on the Formula 1 calendar.

Revamped Hungaroring Makes Debut

The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix was the first race held at the freshly-revamped Hungaroring circuit. The €200 million project, which took ten months to complete, saw the entire pit and paddock complex rebuilt as well as a new, larger, main grandstand constructed opposite the pit lane.

Other changes have been made around the circuit, including the construction of a new tunnel for pedestrians, which passes underneath the main straight. Further work is set to take place ahead of next year’s race, including the building of a new grandstand at the final turn.

2025 Hungarian Grand Prix is Sixth Best-Attended Race This Year

The Hungarian Grand Prix currently ties with the Austrian Grand Prix as the sixth best-attended race of the 2025 season, behind the British Grand Prix (500,000), the Australian Grand Prix (465,000), the Belgian Grand Prix (389,000), the Canadian Grand Prix (352,000) and the Spanish Grand Prix (300,300). In 2024, it ranked as the seventh best-attended race overall, being overtaken by the Mexican and Italian Grands Prix later in the season.

Total attendance at Formula 1 races in 2025 now stands at 3.9 million. Across the same 14 races last year – excluding the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, for which an official attendance figure has not been announced – total attendance was 3.7 million. The sport is on course to beat its single-season attendance record of 6.5 million in 2024.

The Hungaroring currently holds a contract to remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2032. The 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is set to take place on July 24-26, once again as the final round before the summer break. Tickets for the race are expected to go on sale imminently.
