Attendance grew by 12,000 at the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend, reaching over 300,000 for the first time in the Interlagos circuit’s history.
The 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix attracted a weekend attendance of 304,000 – the largest in the Interlagos circuit’s long history on the Formula 1 calendar. This year’s attendance was more than double that of the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix, the last pre-pandemic event held at the track.
Attendance grew by around 12,000 from last year’s figure. Due to demand for tickets, grandstands in the area around Turn 4 expanded capacity for the 2025 race by around 20,000. This was the first F1 race in Brazil to feature a home driver on the grid since Felipe Massa raced in the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix. Gabriel Bortoleto did not have a home debut to remember, crashing out in both Saturday’s Sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
Lando Norris grew his championship advantage to 24 points with a faultless weekend, winning both the Sprint and the Grand Prix from pole position. Kimi Antonelli became the third-youngest driver in history to start from the front row in a Grand Prix and recorded a career-best second place finish, while Max Verstappen became the first driver in 11 years to secure a podium finish having started from the pit lane.
Sao Paulo Grand Prix Ranks in Top 10 Attended 2025 Races
The 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix ranks as the eight-best-attended race of the season so far, not counting the United States Grand Prix, which is likely to have had a higher figure but has not yet revealed an official total.
The Interlagos race is likely to remain in the top ten best-attended races this season. Of the three events remaining this year, only the Las Vegas Grand Prix is likely to challenge Sao Paulo. Weekend attendance declined at the second running of the Las Vegas race last year by 9,000, down to 306,000. Attendance figures at the other two remaining races, in Qatar and Abu Dhabi, have never previously exceeded 200,000.
Total F1 attendance in 2025 now stands at 5.6 million, though that does not include attendances at races in Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan or Austin, for which numbers have not been announced. Using estimates based on previous attendances at those events, actual overall attendance is likely to be around 6.2 million across the 21 races held so far. F1 remains on course to beat its single season record of 6.5 million, set last year.
