COTA Extends U.S. GP Contract to 2034

At the sold out 2025 United States Grand Prix weekend, it was announced that Circuit of The Americas will remain as host of the event until at least 2034 following the signing of a new contract extension.

The United States Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar at Circuit of The Americas for the next nine seasons. The news was announced on race day at the 2025 United States Grand Prix, with organisers signing a new eight-year extension on their existing contract, which was set to expire in 2026.

Max Verstappen dominated proceedings at the 2025 United States Grand Prix, securing victories in both the Sprint race and Grand Prix, significantly closing the points gap to the championship leaders. Off track, trackside concerts were headlined by Garth Brooks and Kygo, while F1’s new “Grid Gigs” initiative launched, with Texas-born singer-songwriter Drake Milligan performing on the grid before the race began.

The new contract for the United States Grand Prix means that almost every circuit on the 2025 calendar is now signed up until at least 2028. The exceptions are Imola (which hosted its final race in 2025), Zandvoort (which will depart the calendar after 2026) and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which is yet to confirm its place on the schedule beyond next year.

The COTA race is one of three in the United States. Events in Miami and Las Vegas joined the schedule in 2022 and 2023 respectively, and Formula 1’s presence in America shows no signs of slowing down. Ahead of the United States Grand Prix weekend, it was announced that Apple TV will become the exclusive broadcast partner of Formula 1 in the United States from 2026 onwards.

Speaking about the new contract for Circuit of The Americas, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said:

“Since 2012 the United States Grand Prix has continued to grow in strength and popularity, and I want to thank the City of Austin and Travis County for hosting us. Each year, the event at the Circuit of the Americas stands out as a true highlight for fans, drivers, and teams alike, drawing hundreds of thousands of passionate supporters who come to witness the thrilling on-track action and soak up the vibrant energy of the circuit and the city. As Formula 1 continues to grow and thrive in the United States, we are proud to extend our partnership with Bobby Epstein and his outstanding team in Austin, as well as with Governor Abbott, whose leadership has been instrumental in supporting the sport’s development in Texas and beyond. Both have shown unwavering commitment to F1, and their shared vision and investment have played a vital role in establishing the strong foundation we now enjoy in the U.S.”

2025 United States Grand Prix Sells Out

No official attendance figure for the 2025 United States Grand Prix has been announced but F1 noted in its race broadcast that tickets had sold out. On Saturday, COTA announced that all General Admission tickets had sold out for the weekend – but said that hospitality and grandstand tickets remained available.

Attendance figures at the track are usually some of the highest seen all season, despite a slight decline in recent years. 3-day figures have been consistently over 400,000 since F1 returned to Texas post-pandemic. Spectator numbers peaked at 440,000 in 2022. Last year’s attendance number is estimated to have been around 430,000.

COTA Unveils Plans for New Clubhouse

Over the 2025 United States Grand Prix weekend, plans emerged for a new clubhouse to be built at COTA. Named “The Circuit”, the private driving club will open in 2027. Set out over four stories, the expansive building will be situated at Turn 1, with club members set to benefit from driving experiences, dining and hospitality throughout the year. The building will be connected to the paddock by an aerial gondola.

The location of the new building means that the general admission area at Turn 1 is likely to be impacted next year when construction work begins. The 2026 United States Grand Prix is set to take place on October 23-25. For the first time since 2022, the event will not use Formula 1’s Sprint format. Tickets for the race are expected to go on sale in March.
