Ahead of this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, we had the opportunity to check out the views from selected grandstands at Marina Bay Street Circuit. Arguably the best grandstand for on-track action at the Singapore Grand Prix, the Turn 2 grandstand offers views of the opening two corners at Marina Bay Street Circuit. The best sections of this grandstand (A2-A4) also offer a front-on view of the cars going down the start-finish straight.
Please note that we only captured video of section A1 of the Turn 2 grandstand, but you can see multiple images of each section below.
Access to Turn 2 Grandstand
The Turn 2 grandstand is located in Zone 1 of the Marina Bay Street Circuit. If you purchase seats in the Turn 2 grandstand, you’ll be able to access all of the zones at the circuit (Zones 1-4). Turn 2 grandstand is located closed to the Wharf Stage, which hosts some of the biggest concerts on race weekend and is also where the F1 drivers make an appearance during the Fan Forum on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
The closest entrance gate to the Turn 2 grandstand is Gate 1 (Republic Boulevard), which is near the Nicoll Highway MRT station. When entering at Gate 1, you can walk to the Turn 2 grandstand in only 5-10 minutes. This walking route doesn’t involve crossing any pedestrian bridges, making it suitable for fans with mobility issues. Alternatively, you can also enter the Turn 2 grandstand via Gate 2 (Temasek Avenue) next to the Promenade MRT station, but the walk from the gate to the grandstand will take around 10-15 minutes and involves crossing two pedestrian bridges over the track.
Turn 2 Grandstand Seat Type & Layout
All of the seats in the Turn 2 grandstand offer individual bucket seats with backs.
The Turn 2 grandstand is separated into six sections. See the seating plan layout below. Section A1 is sandwiched in the corner between the high sections of the Turn 1 grandstand and sections A2-A6 of the Turn 2 grandstand. Section A1 has up to forty seats and seventeen rows. Views from section A1 are not as good as from sections A2-A4, which we consider to be the best in this grandstand, as most seats offer a front-on view of the cars approaching down the main straight before entering Turns 1-2.
Sections A2-A6 have between 12 and 24 seats across and a uniform 20-row height. Row numbers begin a one, lowest and closest to the track. The best seats in this grandstand are in higher row numbers, though it is worth noting that the view further down the start-finish straight is slightly hampered from some higher-row seats in sections A2-A4 by the pedestrian overpass that crosses the track. Nevertheless, we’d still rather be in a high row number in this grandstand with views over the trackside catch fencing.
Please note that the top seven rows of section A3 (which are without seats) are reserved for accredited photographers (see here). This section will be fairly empty for most of the race weekend, but will be very busy with photographers looking to get shots of the start of the race on Sunday night. Those lucky to be in higher numbered seats of section A6 also have a good view across to Turn 3 (see here). Otherwise, the Turn 2 grandstand doesn’t offer views of the cars going through Turn 3.
A large TV screen is located opposite the A5-A6 sections of the Turn 2 grandstand. Whilst views of the screen are best from higher numbered sections, you can still follow the action on this screen from the lowered numbered sections of the grandstand.
