The ‘F1 night race’ is a major sporting event with in excess of 40,000 international visitors converging on the city for the weekend, so good rooms are at a premium and prices are high. Luckily, there are ways to avoid the high prices if you are willing to compromise on creature comforts and/or location. Book as far in advance as you can for the best choice and most competitive prices.
Trackside Hotels at Marina Bay
Many of Singapore’s best hotels are located around the Marina Bay street circuit, literally a stone’s throw from the action. If you are staying in the right room at one of these luxury hotels (which won’t come cheap on Grand Prix weekend), you don’t even necessarily have to buy race tickets as many rooms have views of the track. Check with the hotel before reserving to be sure you will have a room (or even better, a balcony) with a view
Swissotel The Stamford: Perfectly located next to Turn 9, with easy access to two MRT stations (City Hall & Esplanade.)
Pan Pacific Singapore: Located on the inside of the circuit near Turn 6, this is an excellent 5-star option. The huge rooms offer great views of the circuit and skyline
The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore: 5-star luxury next to City Hall MRT and Padang, a short walk or metro ride from several grandstands and hospitality suites
Raffles Singapore: An iconic landmark and grand reminder of Singapore’s colonial past is also an incredible 5-star hotel. Located close to the Padang concert area
Ritz Carlton Millenia: The ultimate Grand Prix hotel experience. Located a few minutes walk from the pits, making it a favored hotel amongst the F1 teams
Mandarin Oriental: Get close to the action at one of the best five-star F1 hotels in Singapore. Also popular amongst F1 teams
Marina Bay Sands: Singapore’s iconic architectural landmark offers three towers connected by an incredible rooftop infinity pool. Some rooms have circuit views
Accommodation & Circuit Transfers With F1 Experiences
Hotel rooms are available at selected hotels for guests who purchase an Official Ticket Package from F1 Experiences. Rooms are expected to be available at the Intercontinental Singapore and Pan Pacific Singapore. Both hotels are within easy walking distance of Marina Bay Street Circuit.

If you can’t afford – or don’t want to pay for – the trackside accommodation we’ve already mentioned, there are lots of excellent luxury hotels for less elsewhere in Singapore. Decent mid-range hotels also abound in the city state, though you will have to be ready for the possibility of windowless rooms in centrally located hotels (especially those in narrow “shophouse” buildings around Boat Quay and Chinatown.) Alternatively, you can look a little further from the city center for better value, but be sure to check your hotel is close to an MRT or bus station so you’ll be able to easily get to the circuit. Away from the luxury trackside hotels, areas worth considering for your stay in Singapore include Chinatown, Clark Quay, Orchard Road, Bugis and Sentosa Island. Keep reading to learn more about the best districts to stay for your weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Chinatown
Chinatown is close enough to the circuit to make it thoroughly practical for the traveler, while also bringing you a whole other kind of experience, given that some of the oldest parts of the city are here. Its street food is world-renowned thanks to visits from the likes of the late great Anthony Bourdain, has Unesco World Heritage status. We recommend you spend time soaking up the atmosphere and trying some delicious delicacies in Chinatown.
The Furama City Centre provides close proximity to public transport, being five minutes from two MRT stations, while you get generous space in your room, along with excellent en-suite bathrooms and views of Marina Bay, meaning you can see where the action is happening before you head out to the track. It will take you around 20 minutes to get to Marina Bay Sands from this hotel by MRT.
A relative bargain comes in the compact form of the CUBE Boutique Capsule Hotel at Chinatown, which is one of Singapore’s many capsule hotels, offering all mod-cons in a relatively small room. In CUBE, you get air conditioning and a flat-screen TV as standard in your room, but there is also a communal space where you can even play video games with your fellow guests! If you value cost over space, this is a great option. The hotel is 20 minutes on the Downtown Line from Marina Bay Sands.
Like the CUBE, Singapore has a wide selection of good-quality hostels, many of which are located in Chinatown, within walking distance to the circuit and plenty of nightlife options. A little further away, Little India also has a good selection of cheaper hostels. Capsule hotels are a very Asian phenomenon, somewhere between a hostel and a hotel, offering guests a small private space.
Clarke Quay
Next to Chinatown is Clarke Quay, a waterside development with entertainment and shopping malls situated conveniently next to hotels and apartments, and within walking distance of Marina Bay Street Circuit. Park Regis Singapore is a modern, glassy hotel just a very short walk from Clarke Quay MRT station, with the Singapore River Cruise tourist attraction also right next to the hotel. All rooms feature panoramic windows with fabulous views of the city below, and there is a concierge service available to guests. There is also an outdoor swimming pool if you need to relax while you’re there.
If you want to save money on the hotel but still enjoy good-quality facilities, give the reliable Ibis Budget Singapore Clarke Quay a try. Even though Ibis is known for its clean, responsible, no-frills approach to hotels, this branch of the franchise takes into account local requirements, with an outdoor swimming pool on the roof, and a fitness center. It might be that this lower-priced option provides you with all you need to enjoy your time at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Orchard Road
Singapore’s premier shopping street is also home to a good selection of hotels, including many international chains. Access to the circuit is relatively straightforward from the Orchard and Somerset MRT stations on the red North-South line, which have direct access to City Hall station. Recommended 5-star hotels on Orchard include Pan Pacific Orchard, Grand Hyatt Singapore and Pullman Singapore Orchard. The Editor stayed at the Sheraton Towers on Scotts Road (near Orchard) while working at the last two editions of the Singapore Grand Prix. This hotel has easy access to the Newton station on the MRT and is also close to the fantastic Newton food center. Recommended!
Bugis
The inner city area of Bugis is definitely worth considering as your base for the Singapore Grand Prix. Bugis offers very easy access to most parts of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, particularly Zone 1. The Bugis MRT station is only one stop away from Promenade (Gate 2, Zone 1) and City Hall (Gates 3A-3B, Zone 4). It’s a lively area with great restaurants, bars and shopping, and is also close to Little India.
Sentosa Island
It might be that you want to take a complete break from racing talk when you leave the circuit, and if so, you might want to consider the hotels lining Sentosa Island, which is a bit more of a trip, but has plenty to recommend it for the race-week traveler. One of the higher-priced resorts, the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is rated highly for its sustainability, and yet the thing you’ll notice when you arrive is the breathtaking bay view from the southern end of Singapore, which you can enjoy from an outdoor swimming pool. The resort is the furthest hotel from the track of the ones we profile, but it’s only a few minutes’ walk from the Sentosa Express monorail, which connects to the main island’s MRT network.
Adjacent to Adventure Cove Waterpark on Sentosa is Resorts World Sentosa – Equarius Hotel, which is one of the higher-priced hotels, but which puts you right in the middle of all the entertainment Sentosa offers tourists, and is also within easy access of Marina Bay, given that it’s a very short walk to Beach Station and the Sentosa Express. Overall, if you can afford it, it’s everything you could possibly want from a trip to Singapore, while still being close enough to the Grand Prix to make it practical.
Sitting right next to the Sentosa Express Beach Station is the mid-priced Siloso Beach Resort, which boasts landscaped spring-water pools featuring slides, so that if you’re bringing the family you can guarantee they won’t be bored. This is even more the case as the hotel is within shouting distance of Universal Studios Singapore, so maybe you might choose to double up your racing with some theme-park fun!
