A total of 11 teams are preparing to take to the grid in 2026, with Cadillac making their debut alongside the 10 already familiar squads. Here is the lowdown on the outfits that will be in action when the campaign kicks off…

McLaren

Reigning Teams’ Champions McLaren return for their 61st season in Formula 1, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri entering into a fourth campaign as team mates while Andrea Stella continues as Team Principal.

The Woking-based outfit are one of the most historic names in the sport. Founded by Bruce McLaren, the squad made their debut in 1966 and have since collected 203 wins, 13 Drivers’ Championships and 10 Teams’ Championships.

McLaren will be looking to continue their recent strong run of form into 2026, a year in which they will be aiming to score a third consecutive Teams’ crown for the first time since 1990, while Norris is preparing to defend his maiden Drivers’ title.

Mercedes

Another team with an impressive track record, Mercedes are fielding the unchanged line-up of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in 2026. Toto Wolff remains at the head of the squad, a position he has held since 2013.

After acquiring the former Brawn GP outfit in 2010, the Silver Arrows soon worked their way to the front of the pack, going on to seal a record eight consecutive Teams’ Championships between 2014 and 2021 as well as seven drivers’ titles, six of which belonged to Lewis Hamilton.

While the team have not experienced quite the same level of success in recent years, their P2 in 2025 marked a promising upturn.

Red Bull

It will be season number 22 for Red Bull in 2026, a campaign in which they will again have a new driver pairing.

Following their run of consecutive championships with Sebastian Vettel from 2010 to 2013, Max Verstappen repeated this feat by claiming four Drivers’ titles between 2021 and 2024. The Dutchman lost out to McLaren’s Lando Norris in 2025, but can he fight back this time around?

Verstappen will be joined by a new team mate in the form of Isack Hadjar, with the Frenchman making the step up from Racing Bulls to replace Yuki Tsunoda, while Laurent Mekies starts a campaign as the outfit’s Team Principal for the first time following his appointment last summer.

Ferrari

A name that needs little introduction, Ferrari are the only team to have competed in every Formula 1 season since the championship began back in 1950.

The Scuderia have gone on to earn 15 Drivers’ Championships and 16 teams’ titles across the years, but their last were scored in 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton continue on as the Italian outfit’s pairing with Fred Vasseur as Team Principal for 2026, a season in which the squad will be hoping for better after ending 2025 without a Grand Prix win and in fourth place of the Teams’ standings.

Williams

Williams return after a positive 2025 season, having claimed an assured P5 in the Teams’ Championship as well as scoring two podiums courtesy of Carlos Sainz.

The Grove-based outfit – led by James Vowles since 2023 – are no strangers to success, with seven drivers’ and nine teams’ titles to their name across their long history in Formula 1.

Their fortunes took a dip during the late 2010s, but Williams will be hoping that their strong outing last season – coupled with the solid line-up of Sainz and Alex Albon – helps them to take another step in 2026.

Racing Bulls

Another team with a slightly different line-up for 2026 is Racing Bulls, as the Red Bull sister outfit prepare to field the only rookie amongst this year’s grid.

After Red Bull’s acquisition of the former Minardi team in 2006, the squad has since run under the guises of Toro Rosso, AlphaTauri and RB before their transition into Racing Bulls in 2025, achieving two victories – courtesy of Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly – along the way.

The incumbent Liam Lawson is joined by Arvid Lindblad in 2026, with the 18-year-old making the step up following a P6 finish in the 2025 Formula 2 Championship. Alan Permane, meanwhile, continues on as Team Principal following his promotion from Racing Director last summer.

Aston Martin

Aston Martin are another squad that will be hoping for progress in 2026, off the back of ending the 2025 season in seventh place.

Fortunes have varied for the former Racing Point team since taking on their current moniker in 2021, with the high of several podiums in 2023 followed by two tougher campaigns in the years since.

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll form an unchanged pairing in 2026, marking their fourth season as team mates, while the headline news in late 2025 was that Adrian Newey will become Team Principal for the next campaign.

Haas

F1’s newest team – prior to this year’s addition (more on which later) – Haas will embark on their 11th campaign in Formula 1 in 2026.

Across 214 Grands Prix so far, the American outfit’s best race finish to date has been a P4, a record held by Romain Grosjean that was equalled by Ollie Bearman at the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix.

Bearman is joined by Esteban Ocon again this season, as Haas – headed by Team Principal Ayao Komatsu – look to build on the positives after ending the last campaign in eighth.

Audi

The former Kick Sauber team will go under a different name in 2026 as the squad becomes Audi’s works outfit, a transition that coincides with the new wave of technical regulations being introduced into the sport.

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto move into their second season as team mates, following on from a year in which Hulkenberg memorably clinched a long-awaited debut podium at Silverstone. Jonathan Wheatley acts as Team Principal, having joined earlier last year.

Kick Sauber finished the 2025 Teams’ Championship in ninth – can they make progress under the Audi name in the campaign ahead?

Alpine

Alpine – formerly known as Renault – faced a tricky 2025 season, ending the year at the bottom of the standings with a sizeable points deficit to their rivals.

The squad have taken one victory and six podiums under the Alpine name, with two of the latter scored by Pierre Gasly who is set to embark on his fourth campaign with the team.

Gasly will again have Franco Colapinto as his team mate in a season that will mark a new era for the outfit in that they will no longer produce their own power units, instead switching to Mercedes engines. Steve Nielsen remains as Managing Director following his appointment in 2025.

Cadillac

An 11th team will join the grid in 2026 as Cadillac prepare for their maiden season in Formula 1, making them the first new squad since Haas debuted back in 2016.

Team Principal Graeme Lowdon has made no secret of the American outfit wanting experience in their driver line-up, with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez each making a return to the grid following a year on the sidelines.

While General Motors and TWG Motorsports are building a power unit facility that will make Cadillac a full-works operation in the future, Ferrari are set to supply the team’s engine and gearbox in 2026.
