Your Action Plan Turn the Triangle Back
What: Initiate the backswing by rotating your entire upper body to move the “triangle” formed by your arms and the club, preventing early hand manipulation (the “flip”).
Why: Flipping the hands or initiating the swing with the hands breaks down the structure of the takeaway, leading to inconsistent control, poor path, and slices or hooks. Turning the triangle keeps the club on plane and maintains connection.
How to Execute the Drill:
Complete the Swing: Once the triangle turn is complete (around hip height), then you can allow the club to “raise up” to the top and swing through.
Form the Triangle: At address, visualize the structure formed by your two arms and the club shaft as a rigid triangle.
Turn the Triangle: Start the swing by using your body (shoulders/torso) to rotate this entire triangle back .
Hands Stay Quiet: Focus on the feeling that your hands are not moving independently; they are simply being carried back by the turn of the body.
