Fujikura’s Axiom iron shafts now have new options for more players

Fujikura’s Axiom iron shafts are fighting the stigma that graphite iron shafts are only for slower or older players.

Now there are even more options.

Fujikura just added new 95-R, 95-S and 125-S flex and weight profiles to join the original six profiles, opening up several new player profiles to fit into the shaft.

The Axiom line was released in 2023 and brings the proprietary VeloCore technology in Fujikura’s wildly popular Ventus and Ventus TR woods lines to irons. Ventus is the No. 1 wood shaft on the PGA Tour, with one-in-three players using VeloCore in their driver, according to Darrell Survey. Ventus driver shafts won all four major championships this year.

The platform is known for a super stable and consistent feel across all the profiles, from the traditionally weighted 75 g profiles, all the way to the 125-X profile, which is designed for tour-level speeds and shaft loads.

Fujikura used its high-speed ENSO analytics, which monitors a shaft during the golf swing, to develop the line.

The addition of the 95 g profiles and the S-flex in the 125 g profile came directly from player and fitter feedback over the two-plus years since Axiom was launched.

“The challenge with Axiom was to take VeloCore Technology and create an iron shaft that enhanced players’ critical scoring shots,” said Fujikura Product & Brand Manager TJ Spidle. “It was two years in the making, and it’s been a huge success. More and more golfers are playing with Axiom and seeing a positive change in their iron play.

“Now we’ve been able to strengthen the Axiom line with 95 and 125-S. Whatever the swing characteristics, we are helping more and more players maximize their potential and hit the ball closer to their target with greater consistency.”

My thoughts!

More options for more players is always a great thing.

Adding a 95-gram option for Axiom seems like a no-brainer as it’s a very popular weight class for both existing users of steel and graphite. I could really see 95 g Axioms taking over elite junior circuits.

The 125-S option is something that is really intriguing to me as someone who thought they would fit seamlessly into the 125-X, but I honestly felt that to be a bit too board-ie for my tastes. I’m someone who tugs on the shaft hard and I like to feel the shaft move a little at the bottom.

For me, the 125-S option might be something that gives me that feel compared the very stout 125-X, but just like you, I will have to test it to find out if it’s actually a good fit, or just makes sense on paper.

What will be really interesting is if Fujikura continues adding more weight and flex profiles as a 115 g weight class would seem to make the most sense next as an option for aging elite players or players who just want a little lighter package.

Fujikura Axiom Iron Shaft

AXIOM introduces an unparalleled level of iron shaft performance. For the first time, Fujikura’s proprietary VELOCORE TECHNOLOGY has been integrated into an iron shaft that delivers the same industry-leading performance gains initially introduced in VENTUS and VENTUS TR. Extreme accuracy and consistency combined with unmatched workability provide golfers the same level of confidence they’ve come to expect from VeloCore-powered products. Whatever the shot requires, AXIOM delivers.
VeloCore Technology is the engine that drives AXIOM iron performance. An extremely stable platform delivers optimized results on every shot through tightened dispersion, increased ball speeds, and improved accuracy. AXIOM is designed in a unique 3-parallel system that creates constant weight and decreasing torque values throughout the set. Comprised of a long parallel (#2, #3, #4), a mid parallel, (#5, #6, #7), and a short parallel (#8, #9, W), AXIOM allows for more versatility in design and material integration versus a single blank iron shaft. Each iron is specifically tipped to compliment each design, reducing SKU count while maximizing results.
