The Best-Selling Golf Ball Of 2025 Is Also One Of The Shortest

What is it that makes the Callaway Supersoft such a popular golf ball? Is it the budget-friendly price point alone or do golfers really believe it’s longer and easier to hit? The Callaway Supersoft is the number one-selling golf ball on Amazon for 2025. That alone made it worth a closer look in our 2025 MyGolfSpy Ball Test.

If a ball is moving this much volume, golfers deserve to know what they’re really getting. Here’s a breakdown of how the Callaway Supersoft performs at different swing speeds.

Should high swing speed players play Callaway Supersoft?

For golfers with faster swings, the Supersoft’s weaknesses showed clearly.

Driver Distance: At 312.69 yards, it was the second-shortest ball in the entire test. By comparison, the Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond led the way at 328.05 yards. That’s more than 15 yards behind.

Iron Distance: It fell into the bottom half at 191 yards, compared to 202 yards for the top performer.

While it did “exceed expectations” in ball speed when compared with other ultra-soft balls, that didn’t translate to keeping up with the firmer, tour-level options for fast swing speed players.

Verdict: For players generating high clubhead speed, the Supersoft is too short to be a realistic option.

Should mid-swing speed players play Callaway Supersoft?

At moderate swing speeds around 90 mph, the Supersoft looks a little more competitive in iron distance but still lagged behind for the driver.

Driver Distance: It ranked just six spots up from the bottom at 278 yards, compared to 289 yards for the top ball.

Iron Distance: Surprisingly, the Supersoft nearly topped the chart here: 161 yards, just 0.15 yards shy of first place.

That iron performance is a bright spot, showing where the Supersoft can keep up with more premium models. The extra ball speed it produced among soft-feel balls likely explains this result.

Verdict: If you’re a mid-speed player who values soft feel and iron consistency, the Supersoft has some appeal. You’ll still be giving up meaningful distance off the tee.

Should low swing speed players play Callaway Supersoft?

This is where the Supersoft has been marketed the strongest and the results are stronger than they are for faster swing speeds.

Driver Distance: At 223.90 yards, it finished third-longest, just a fraction (0.32 yards) behind the category leader at 224.22.

Iron Distance: Right in the middle of the pack at 132 yards, compared to 134 for the longest.

For slower swing speeds, the ball’s naturally low-spin design helps squeeze out competitive driver distance. With irons, it blends into the middle of the pack, but it’s only a two-yard difference.

Verdict: For slower swing speeds, the Supersoft delivers competitive distance off the tee.

Spin performance

Regardless of your swing speed, it pays to have some spin around the greens for control. The Callaway Supersoft is not a high-spinning golf ball.

35-Yard Wedge Spin: Just 4,381 rpm—among the lowest in the test. The leader, TaylorMade TP5, spun at 6,026 rpm.

Full Wedge Spin: 8,933 rpm, placing it in the bottom five. The top performer reached 10,147 rpm.

The Supersoft is one of the lowest-spin balls tested. That can help rein in side spin and keep drives straighter but it also means limited stopping power into greens.

Final thoughts

For some golfers (swing speed dependent), the combination of feel and price point in the Callaway Supersoft will still make it a favorite. If you’re serious about maximizing both distance and control, there may be better options at every swing speed.

This is why we test. Marketing claims and sales rankings don’t tell the whole story. If you want to see how the ball in your bag really performs, check out the full 2025 Golf Ball Test Results.
