These 20 PGA Tour Pros Hit More Fairways Than Anyone—Here’s What They Use Off The Tee

We recently analyzed the equipment used by the PGA Tour’s longest drivers so it’s time to turn our attention to the most accurate – those who hit the most fairways. While I always find numbers and data interesting, PGA Tour stats rarely reveal something this telling. One brand dominates fairway finders with 40 percent of the top players using it. Even more interesting is that the trade-off between distance and accuracy reinforces a trend we’ve seen in our own Best Golf Driver testing for years.

PGA Tour Professionals with highest fairways hit percentage

This data is accurate as of March 2025 and it shows that only seven players on the PGA Tour hit the fairway more than 70 percent of the time. Takumi Kanaya, hits more than 80 percent! For reference, an average 15-handicap golfer hits the fairway about 48 percent of the time.

What we learned

The best way to find a driver that fits your game and gets your tee shot in the fairway is to go for a proper fitting. Chances are your swing speed won’t match most of the players on this list. However, it’s interesting to know which brands/specific models help golfers hit the most accurate drives.

Drivers by brand

Eight of the top 20 golfers leading the Tour’s fairways hit percentage have a PING driver. The next most popular was the Titleist with four golfers.

Drivers by specific model

The PING G440 LST was the most popular model. This lower-spinning PING is typically designed for players with higher swing speeds who want to control their ball flight. Three players use the PING G430 LST.

Takumi Kanaya, the golfer with the highest fairway hit percentage, uses an older model, the PING G410. There were no other multiples on this list aside from two players using the TaylorMade Qi35 LS.

How long are these 20 golfers off the tee?

Getting the ball in the fairway is great but we all know that to play your best golf, it helps to have a little distance. I pulled the average driving distance and rank of these 20 players and here’s what I found.

Of the top 20 fairway hitters, 17 are below the current PGA Tour average driving distance (about 300 yards), with some giving up as much as 20 yards off the tee compared to the average.

The longest hitter on this list is Victor Perez whose average driving distance is 306.5 yards. Paul Peterson, the shortest and one of the shortest on Tour, hit 280.7 yards on average.

While most of these fairway finders trade distance for accuracy, Victor Perez (306.5 yds), Rico Hoey (305.7 yds) and Daniel Berger (302.5 yds) are notable exceptions. They all play with a PING LST model, either the G440 or G430.

How does this compare to our 2025 driver test?

The PING drivers scored strongly in our 2025 driver test. The PING G440 SFT was the third most accurate, and the PING G430 MAX 10K was the fifth most accurate. The LST was not as accurate despite being a good choice for Tour professionals.

The Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond is the best golf driver of 2025. It was third for distance and second for accuracy. The PING G440 SFT finished 21st for distance. Again, we see that tradeoff of accuracy and distance.

While the Tour Edge Exotics E725 is the most accurate driver of 2025, it ranks 25th for distance.

Final thoughts

Going for a fitting can help you find that balance between accuracy and distance. However, this data shows that even professionals have to make these tradeoffs from time to time. For more information about our best golf drivers of 2025, take a look here:
