Davis Schneider hit the first pitch of Game 5 out of the park and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. provided what would eventually be the winning run two pitches later as the Toronto Blue Jays took a 3-2 series lead against the heavily favored Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rookie Trey Yesavage struck out 12 Dodgers in 7 innings for Toronto’s 3rd win in a series where they had never been the pregame or series favorites. Shohei Ohtani was 0-for-4 in the game, ceding the World Series MVP favorite status to Guerrero Jr.
Editor’s Picks
The teams now return to Toronto for Game 6 on Friday and, if necessary, Game 7 on Saturday. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is second to Shohei Ohtani in MVP odds among Dodgers players, takes the mound against Kevin Gausman.
