Israel Adesanya was a big fan of Derrick Lewis’ tribute in the cage following “The Black Beast’s” fast win on Saturday night at UFC Nashville.
Lewis overcame the odds to TKO Tallison Teixeira in just 35 seconds. He followed up the win with more emotes than a Fortnite spawn island — the beast belly, the pants drop, the throat slash, the Israel Adesanya bow and arrow, the DX crotch pump, the (it gets weird here) dog peeing on the fence, the dog kicking dirt on its poop, the chattermouth, and finally … the full moon.
Adesanya posted a video to his X (formerly Twitter) account laughing maniacally when Lewis did the bow and arrow he used after beating Alex Pereira at UFC 287 back in April 2023.
“Face down!” he crooned.
“Pop arrows and get petty,” he wrote in the tweet. “Shoutout my twin!”
Adesanya has always admitted he’s petty, and he shows it off after his wins. He humped Paulo Costa like a dog after beating the Brazilian back in September 2020. He mocked Alex Pereira’s son by dropping to the canvas after he knocked the kid’s dad out.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen one of those petty celebrations from “The Last Stylebender,” though. Adesanya is now 1-4 over his last five with three straight losses in a row. Izzy is currently hoping to land a rematch with Sean Strickland, but isn’t sure if “Tarzan” wants that smoke.
Until then he’ll just have to live vicariously through Derrick Lewis victory celebrations.
