Over the weekend, UFC CEO Dana White released renderings from the planning for next year’s UFC event at the White House.
The event is expected to take place on the South Lawn. In the renderings, the octagon sits below an enormous arch of lights that illuminate the grounds with the White House on one side and the Washington Monument on the other.
Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier reacted after seeing the artwork, and was stunned.
“We saw the first renderings of what the UFC is going to look like at the White House, and it looked insane,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel.
“The fact that we’re actually doing a UFC at the White House is the craziest thing of all time. And honestly, only President Trump and Dana White could make something like this happen because otherwise it would be just a ridiculous thought, but honestly ridiculous thoughts work.”
The UFC has held three “Noche UFC” events celebrating Mexican Independence Day. They’ve become some of the biggest fight cards the fight promotion holds each year. Cormier always wondered why there haven’t been events celebrating American Independence Day. Next year there will be.

“We’re going to the White House in July, 4th of July, Independence Day. For a long we talked about Noche UFC and how it was a great ode to the Hispanic culture, the Mexican culture. It’s been and become one of the greatest events in the UFC’s yearly calendar,” Cormier said.
“I always questioned, why don’t we tip our hat to the United States of America? That feels like what we’re going to do when we get to the White House next July,” continued Cormier. “I heard the weigh-ins are going to be the Lincoln Memorial, or something like that. That’s crazy. It’s crazy. And I get to be there.”
