Hector Castro knows the grind. He lived it as mixed martial arts went from the infancy stage, to the now thriving, growing, multibillion dollar business. Castro bobbed and weaved through New Jersey and the east coast as his journey took him through multiple media outlets and fighter sponsor/agent as he once managed Zack Makovsky, and the Daukaus brothers, Chris and Kyle. Hector made many connections and friends along the way, myself included.
All of that hard work and searching for what would make Hector Castro happy has turned into Empire MMA Columbia. Empire is a promotion based out of Medellin, Columbia where Castro has roots. They will host their 13th event on September 19th as Hector builds his Latin American base with the fighters and the fans.
Big News
Hector and I shared a phone conversation last week and he had some really great stuff to tell me. He says…
“We have just partnered with the worldwide broadcasting giant Telemundo Deportes Ahora. This is a great opportunity for the Latin American fighters to get more exposure and chances to get what every mixed martial artist wants and that is a shot in the UFC. I believe we have a couple of fighters who are close to earning their way onto The Contender Series. Over here, these guys are definitely behind in the wrestling base. We identified that and are constantly working and bringing in coaches and training partners. Many of the fighters on our card are from Colombia, but we also have a multitude of other countries who are being represented. Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, and others. There’s so much potential in Latin America and now many more homes across the globe will have a chance to see some of them.”
Castro still lives in NJ and is a very devoted family man. He’s been burning that candle at both ends and putting plenty of miles on his track back and forth between countries. Here’s wishing everybody at the Empire MMA Columbia family a ton of good luck and hope for many homes to tune in and watch some talented fighters chasing their dreams!
