The 7′ 2″ behemoth known as Hong Man Choi is not yet done fighting despite not having competed professionally since 2019.
“We’ve been discussing a comeback match for several years,” the fighter’s manager told YouTuber Tzuyang in an interview. “(Choi Hong-man) hasn’t retired. He never officially announced his retirement.” He continued, “We can’t wait any longer as he’s getting older, so we’re aiming for the second half of next year. It’s true that we need to start right away from January.”
The 45-year-old South Korean fighter began competing in 2003 and has fought for promotions including K-1, Dream, and Road FC.
“Fans want to see me compete,” Hong Man Choi said. “I want to prepare for a retirement match. If a good opportunity arises, I would like to do it.”
“I’m preparing even now. I’m gradually exercising to build up my stamina and want to definitely have a retirement match in my best condition.”
He has competed in kickboxing, mixed martial arts, and professional wrestling but is most well-known for fights against Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop, Akebono, Bob Sapp, and even former professional baseball player Jose Canseco.
