Adding to his existing legal troubles, Jon Jones has been charged with another offense in connection with his rumored car crash and subsequent getaway earlier this year.

‘Bones’ has consistently found himself in the news of late, with several legal problems hanging over his head. Alongside his behavior outside of MMA, the 37-year-old has teased a return to the octagon just weeks after his initial retirement, but that could become complicated if his difficulties away from the sport remain.

After being called to an incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police arrived to find a woman, half-naked and under the influence, in the passenger seat of a crashed white sedan. The car was allegedly being driven by Jon Jones, who was accused of fleeing before the cops were able to reach the scene.

Following his alleged departure from the accident back in February, Jones has now been hit with another charge dating back to the same night. The second case filed against Jones came on June 30, stating that alongside his declared crime scene getaway, the UFC star has been accused of ‘Use of Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy or Offend’.

According to a statement from an officer present on the night of the events, Jones sounded heavily intoxicated during a phone call and was slurring his words as he proceeded to threaten the cop.

“My brothers, they kill people for way less,” Jones allegedly said to an officer. “They slit throats. They’re the most evil people you’ll ever meet.”

“Guess what, you won’t be the first guy this year that I’ve threatened, swear to God. You’d be the second one.”

Ahead of this new charge against him, Jon Jones has already pleaded not guilty to the accusation of leaving the scene of an accident, with a bench trial now set for August 14.
