UFC flyweight Ronaldo Rodriguez failed to make weight for his UFC Mexico bout against Kevin Borjas last Friday, tipping the scale at 127 pounds. “Lazy Boy” was fined and the bout was changed to a catchweight affair and Rodriguez went on to lose by unanimous decision.
Things appear to be going from bad to worse.
“Thank you very much Red Cross for such excellent service, I really appreciate it,” Rodriguez posted on Instagram from his hospital bed.
“Had some complications with my weight cut but we doing good,” Rodriguez continued. “My wife Nina Medina is taking care of me.”
A recovery timeline has yet to be determined.
The 25 year-old Rodriguez (17-3) failed to make the grade on Dana White’s “Contender Series” back in 2020 but eventually worked his way into UFC in early 2024. His decision loss to Borjas marked his first inside the Octagon, leaving him at 2-1 with one submission.
