Actor Martin Kove, 78, best-known for his role in Karate Kid and then the spinoff series that followed known as ‘Cobra Kai’ was forced to leave a fan convention early over the weekend after he allegedly bit one of his co-stars.
According to a Puyallup Police Department, in Washington, Hannah-Kim, 37, approached an officer in the VIP area after Kove took her arm and bit her “so hard he nearly drew blood.”
Kove reportedly let her go and began kissing her arm where he had bitten her after she cried out in pain. Hannak-Kim told her husband about the incident and the couple approached Kove at the fan event together, after which the report stated he “exploded on them, saying something to the effect of how dare they confront him.”
“I walked past Martin Kove, tapped him on the shoulder and said hello & he turned around grabbed my arm and BIT DOWN HARD almost drawing blood,” Hannah-Kim explained in a handwritten statement to police. “I yelped and drew back and then he grabbed my arm again to kiss it.”
Kove told police he was “messing around,” the officer who filed the report wrote. The officer told the actor that what he had done was illegal. Kove “admitted to biting Alicia’s arm and said he did it out of jest and he thought he was being funny, and they play fight all the time on the set of Cobra Kai, and he did not think it was a big deal,” the officer noted.
Eventually, Hannah-Kim spoke to Kove and he apologized, according to the officer’s report.
“I had visible teeth marks and immediate bruising and pain,” she continued in her statement. “We approached Martin in the green room later (30 mins) and he was furious & outraged and visibly angry when I told him calmly not to bite me. He insisted he bit me for fun.”
Per the report, the actress told the reporting officer she did not want to file charges against Kove, but that she “wished to have a report filed in case this continues.” Kove was then asked to leave the fan event.
