Terence Crawford had a sour ending to his hometown victory parade in Nebraska. Omaha police intercepted Crawford moments after the celebrations, ordered him to step out of his vehicle, and held him at gunpoint.
‘Bud’ looks to be aging like a fine wine inside the ring, scoring the biggest win of his career last time out at almost 40. Heading into the bout as a slight underdog, the American outboxed the legendary Canelo Alvarez to earn the nod from the judges, further cementing himself as one of the greatest boxers ever.
However, his ability in the ring doesn’t prevent him from disobeying the law. Just hours after he took to the Omaha, Nebraska streets to celebrate his victory with a parade, Terence Crawford was removed from his car by police for alleged reckless driving.
Police reports claim Crawford was witnessed driving carelessly in the early hours of Sunday morning. After being stopped, one of the officers spotted a gun sitting on the driver’s side floorboard. Crawford and four of his companions were instructed to exit the car at gunpoint.
Multiple guns were found in the possession of Crawford and his team, though all occupants were legally permitted to carry their firearms.
A member of the boxer’s team spoke to WOWT NBC Omaha following the incident.
“Man, I thought we were getting ready to lose our lives,” Crawford’s head of security, Qasim Shabazz, said. “That was a nightmare, you know. Future husband, just had a brand new child and children and stuff like that.”

The active 52nd mayor of Omaha, Nebraska, Mayor John Ewing Jr., released a statement about the events that unfolded on Sunday morning.
“I thought we had one of the best days the city’s ever had in my lifetime,” Mayor Ewing said. “I was excited to be able to celebrate with people from all over this community at the parade.”
“I was heartbroken that something that was so good had an issue that would potentially have people concerned about police-community relations.”
Mayor Ewing continued, giving his flowers to Terence Crawford despite the mishap.
“I want to do everything I can to continue to strengthen those relationships. We will have a full investigation and we will be fully transparent…”
“[Crawford is] a great ambassador for the city of Omaha, a great role model for our young people, and I still hold him in high esteem, and value him as a member of our community.”
