Terence Crawford announced his retirement from the sport of boxing after a widely renowned career between the ropes. Crawford walked away with a perfect 42-0 record, but his departure has come into question after this latest proposal.
‘Bud’ will be considered among the very best to ever compete in boxing, no matter the generation. The worst result the Nebraska native has ever received inside the ring has still seen him coming away with the unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards.
While he didn’t steal the spotlight like others of his generation, Terence Crawford delivered each time he laced up the gloves. At 38 with almost two decades inside the ring, Crawford has earned his retirement, but some seem to believe that there’s still one name he needs to fight.
The battle for the pound-for-pound top spot is ever-changing in the sport of boxing. Crawford is considered by many to sit atop the list, though Dmitry Bivol, too, has a strong case to the throne.
Speaking in a post on social media, Vadim Kornilov, Dmitry Bivol’s manager, attempted to speak a Crawford vs. Bivol clash into existence.
“People are not that excited about Bivol vs. Canlo 2 because the probability of Bivol winning the fight in the same manner are very high,” Kornilov said in a post on X.

Dmitry Bivol outworked Canelo Alvarez when the pair met in 2022.
The Russian battled his way to a unanimous 115-113 scorecard from the judges. The loss for Alvarez was his first since losing to Floyd Mayweather almost ten years prior, and following his recent defeat to Terence Crawford, excitement for a rematch with Bivol isn’t too high.
“The same can be said about Crawford vs. Canelo 2 in my opinion,” Kornilov continued. “Crawford vs. Bivol, that is something new and unpredictable. The [best] fight the [best]!”
