Zack Borrego’s latest fight left him with another loss on his record and possibly some fresh scars.
It was a rough night for the one-time Dana White Contender Series competitor as he went nearly three hard rounds against Brandon Holmes before losing via late knockout at Fury FC 104 this past Sunday in Houston.
The trouble started for Borrego in the first round, when a brutal barrage from Holmes appeared to damage his ear. They went back-and-forth throughout the fight, with Borrego scoring a knockdown in Round 2 to potentially pull even on the scorecards, but it was Holmes who outlasted Borrego for the TKO win with just two seconds remaining in the final round.
Afterwards, the damage to Borrego’s ear was obvious. At your own risk, you can check out video of the bleeding organ here and look at a close-up image here (Twitter issues are currently limiting embed capabilities).
Holmes improves to 5-0 with the win, while Borrego sees his record fall to 7-6. Borrego has lost five of his past eight fights since an August 2022 appearance on Contender Series, where he was submitted by Bo Nickal.
